She was really good on Poker Face and she’s always great on Maisel, I hope she gets in for one of them.

I’m completely enthralled by Sarah Lancashire’s performance and I’m somewhat annoyed how it’s flown under the radar. The show, and more specifically Lancashire’s performance, deserves so much more recognition – I’m glad she got nominated at BAFTA at least.

That’s closer to the first season’s 71 and far from the second season’s high 85.
We’ll see how the audience will react to it.
March 25, 2023 at 6:47 am #1205363318Per Wolfali and Wiki page counts, here’ s all the acting contenders with 100+ votes and cycle search so far (I have excluded Courtenay Cox, as Shining Vale hasn’t been dated, and Michelle Yeoh, as Disney shows have no history of a single day drop so a drop in the final few days of May is probably going to be a 2024 show).
Predicted position in brackets, obviously keep in mind that some shows are still airing or are yet to air.

March 25, 2023 at 8:30 am #1205363387I really want to know why Hulu are rushing out The Great to make eligibility instead of holding it off for next year. Not only has the show shown itself to perform better when people have had more time to catch up on it but with the writers strike potentially leaving Hulu stranded and the field opening up next year with so many comedies ending in this cycle, you’d think they’d want to hold some of their tentpoles over. They also don’t seem to have a particularly strong lead in this time round (although I guess Tiny Beautiful Things could be a surprise hit) whilst if they released it in September they’d be able to capitalise from Only Murders in the Building season 3 airing. I still think Fanning will make the cut but with how late they’re going I think it will be harder for them to break into series and for Hoult to stiff off competition from a contender like Yeun.
I’m hoping HBO aren’t doing something similar with Julia and are instead holding it over to next year and planning big things for it by airing it with Hacks. Not everything needs to be thrown out everywhere all at once.
Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

I don’t know. Do we think maybe it’s ending?

Nothing stops Hulu from having multiple shows in one category.
March 25, 2023 at 10:50 am #1205363529Awards aside, Netflix has Queen Charlotte debuting eight days prior to The Great, from a commercial standpoint they may be trying to program a costume drama against it.
March 25, 2023 at 10:56 am #1205363539I’m just ready for more The Great, I missed it so much.

I believe it’s already been confirmed for a binge drop. Pretty much all of their ”smaller-scale” kids and family stuff releases all at once. It’s just the previous IP, more general audience shows that do weekly.

I don’t know why though. Pitting both of them together as competing period dramas is like competing Schitt’s Creek and Succession as competing shows about privleged white people. They don’t have the same audience ay all.

March 25, 2023 at 11:30 am #1205363574Ted Lasso winning for all 3 seasons just feels a little OTT for what this show actually is, which gives me doubts.
However Emmy voters clearly adore it and the cast (who are good – especially Waddingham imo). I think reaction to the finale may be key for a “feel good” show like this.
March 25, 2023 at 1:21 pm #1205363641Rain Dogs is really good, I hope it can get indie spirit or Gotham noms.
