I was fortunate to chat with 6 voters in the actors peer group about this years race. I know 6 out of 2000+ means jack, but it’s still a little insight so…

    anything about Elle fanning?

    FYC:

    Sarah Snook - Succession

Elle was 3/6, but that could change with the release of S3. We didn’t discuss The Great, Maisel et al because they’re not released yet…

The Bear is good, but slightly overhyped. Not their first choice for series. But all are in for Jeremy Allen white , 4/6 are selecting Ayo Edebiri

Were JAW & Edebiri the only cast members mentioned? Moss-Bachrach is currently 9th in the odds and both him and Colón-Zayas feel like the type of 2nd season bumps that usually happen in acting categories.

Surprisingly, Gina Rodriguez was debated for Not Dead Yet which I thought was interesting…

Was she the only unexpected pick (at least by the boards/odds) that was brought up?

I know this is the comedy forum, but did you guys talk about Drama? Did they say anything about The Handmaid’s Tale? I’m worried for it this year given that it underperformed throughout Awards Season thus far.

    FYC:
Only Murders in the Building: Outstanding Comedy Series
Selena Gomez: Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Steve Martin, Martin Short: Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

The Handmaid's Tale: Outstanding Drama Series

Drama discussion was entirely succession — the three duos going head to head in their categories. I was humbled cos I’m rooting for TWL lol

1 person specifically mentioned Moss-Bachrach, but like no one explicitly said no to him either

Not to be that person but are we just believing random posts now? This really has become like the movie threads.

I mean the ‘thewhitelotus’ did post this about The Idol and it does seem legit and credible.

“I think it’ll have no problem with hype and viewership, it’s content that’ll hinder its chances. I got to see a screener of the pilot cos of my job – craft is there, but it relies entirely on shock value to the point it becomes obnoxious. I remember the plot was an indecent photo of Lily Rose’s character leaking online. Couldn’t have just been a simple nude, it was a photo of her with semen on her face. It was not well executed.”

I stopped respecting the Screen actors guild awards after snubbing Regina King’s performances in acclaimed projects (despite multiple chances), her only nomination is for cast in a 2005 movie.

I’m glad Emmys have Regina King’s back

Guardian Paper in the UK choose Beef as pick of the week

They said that on top of it being clever and funny it is also oddly touching too. Sounds an awful lot like the Ted lasso ingredients, fingers crossed.

I continue to think OMITB and Wednesday throwing at least one supporting nomination between them is very likely. (I’m rewatching OMITB this weekend and Houdyshell being 21st is nonsense)
