Finished Ramy
Give Youssef and acting, writing and directing Emmy for the season (specially the finale). Please! This show is so special to me and this was my favorite season of the show and my favorite comedy of the season so far. Ramy Youssef and Hiam Abbass should be locks if the world was fair.

I think it is, but I wouldn’t count on it outside of critics, it charted nowhere and didn’t do a single day in the Top 10 in the US (it will probably make Australia and New Zealand next week but I doubt anywhere else).
October 12, 2022 at 11:50 am #1205116764I don’t think is Derry Girls eligible for Emmys but is it for Globes/Critics Choice? If I recall, The Serpent was commissioned solely by the BBC and its production was from British/Thai companies without any involvement from Netflix, they were just the US streamer and that was still eligible at the Globes.
They don’t have comedies from Q1/2 that’s stuck and their Q4 plays (Wednesday, Blockbuster etc) seem far more commercial plays than awards and this is type of show I could see a more international and potentially higher brow voting body going for.

Blockbuster is from the same team of B99 no? That did won at the Globes and Braugher went on to become a Emmy fave (for nods anyway). [They also did Superstore which had zero awards success compared to B99 but still]
I can see this being a player.
He lives in you, he lives in me, he watches over everything we see.

It got Nico Santos in for Critics Choice a couple of times and the last season got in at TCA, so I dunno about zero.
But that to say I ultimately agree with you. I think having two acclaimed shows perennially overlooked will only help them as sort of an overdue thing.
Emmys FYC:
Comedy: The Bear, Cunk on Earth, Only Murders in the Building, Reservation Dogs
Drama: The Last of Us, Stranger Things
Limited/Movie:

I’d watch Netflix turning up late here.
I agree with the other comments on Blockbuster – it’s commercial stuff that hasn’t been completely out of the race (especially at winter) previously and I feel like it’s broad in a way that might suit their viewers.
There are plenty of things about Wednesday that I am cautious over but I cannot stress how off the charts their pre-release search is – and visibility matters.
They are also launching an ad supported tier early November (just announced) so it is very likely content they are relatively confident in is being pushed after that.
For what it’s worth though give my beloved Derry Girls all the awards.

It’s running in drama in the prediction centre and the reviews do read that way.

Didn’t see it was in drama, post here because it was listed on MC as only a comedy.

October 14, 2022 at 12:13 pm #1205120562I liked She-Hulk. Do I think it deserves an Emmy nomination for Comedy Series? No, not at all. But I think Tatiana Maslany in Lead Actress and Charlie Cox and Patty Guggenheim in Guest would be deserved, although I doubt it will happen.
October 14, 2022 at 12:26 pm #1205120575I don’t know about an Emmy nomination but I do wonder if Maslany might show up at some of the winter awards (namely the Globes). I haven’t seen She-Hulk and I”m aware the reception to the show overall has been polarising but I’ve seen nothing but praise for her performance week after week and I’ve gotten the sense that it’s a show that isn’t just being watched by Marvel fans (unlike say Hawkeye).
