    Considering that like Debicki, Coolidge also certainly has her nomination guaranteed, I think it would be a good strategy for HBO to move her to Lead, considering that there are already half a dozen candidates from The White Lotus in the same category. I’m really curious if HBO and Netflix will change their minds or keep the submissions where they are.

    I think one of them should definitely move up to lead. Sure someone could emerge from the Spring but right now there are several contenders in supporting that have their own strong bases of support (although I don’t think any of them are going to be strong enough to overcome Coolidge’s) whilst in drama actress both the current frontrunners (Lynskey and Staunton) are people who have already lost to Zendaya for a mid tier contender in spite of no one having ever repeated for a lead performance in drama under this voting system before.

    In Netflix’s case if they move Debicki up they not only are able to fill the vacuum left by Zendaya being ineligible in drama actress but they can also be able to try and get Manville in as a nominee in supporting. In HBO’s case if they move Coolidge up to lead they gain by not only filling in the frontrunner vacuum in drama actress but also by being able to focus on Plaza and Fahy and perhaps potentially even managing to get one of them a win in this category. There’s absolutely nothing to lose for either of them.

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    Debicki in supporting is such a fraud. The woman dominates almost the whole season, yeah she’s absent for a few eps but so was Corrin and they went lead.

    FYC:
    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
    The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
    Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.

    If HBO moves Coolidge to lead , they’ll probably have frontrunners in all 4 main acting categories in drama .

    My current predicted winners…

    tbh I think if you have Succession losing Writing, I’d just go all the way and predict The White Lotus to win Series. It stands a serious shot at sweeping the main guilds (atm it’s the frontrunner in each major guild it’s nominated in) and even if it doesn’t, it feels like the clear challenger regardless as long as it wins a guild besides WGA. Series + Writing + Supporting Actress makes a lot more sense than Series + Supporting Actor, especially since Succession’s writing is the first category the Emmys awarded it for.

    FYC:
    Succession, Industry, Ted Lasso, Dead to Me, and Fleishman Is in Trouble in all categories!

    It will be a battle of the giants in writing if Succession delivers another great finale, I think The Last of Us is submitting Long Long Time, and that has a serious shot as well.
    All HBO tho.

    FYC:
    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
    The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
    Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.

    Anyways right now winner-wise I’m thinking

    Series: Succession (The White Lotus: Sicily)

    Actor: Bob Odenkirk (Jeremy Strong)

    Actress: Melanie Lynskey (Bella Ramsey? Jennifer Coolidge if she goes lead?)

    Supporting Actor: Matthew Macfadyen (Kieran Culkin? Jonathan Banks? no clue guys)

    Supporting Actress: Jennifer Coolidge (Sarah Snook)

    Writing: Succession (The White Lotus: Sicily)

    Directing: The Last of Us (The White Lotus: Sicily)

    FYC:
    Succession, Industry, Ted Lasso, Dead to Me, and Fleishman Is in Trouble in all categories!

    Hmmm personally I doubt they’d move Coolidge lead. She seems to be the frontrunner right now (ahead of Debicki imo) so moving her would be costing an easy win for the popular face of this hit show. She could definitely still have a chance in lead, but it would be tough without an overdue narrative and as popular as Coolidge is at the moment, I’m not sure Hollywood is ready to call her a leading lady yet. Debicki I think has a better chance in Lead as this is their only chance to reward her on the main telecast. Next year she’ll almost definitely be in guest.

    as popular as Coolidge is at the moment, I’m not sure Hollywood is ready to call her a leading lady yet.

    But then are they ready to call Melanie Lynskey, Bella Ramsey or Imelda Staunton leading ladies yet either though? Lynskey already lost last year when she was at the crux of Yellowjackets‘s buzz, Staunton just missed SAG in favour of her co-star in spite of being an Oscar nominated veteran character actress and Ramsey is a 19 year old newcomer and we’ve seen the Emmys come round slowly when it comes to awarding them in lead recently (nominating and awarding Comer only when season 2 came around, going for Colman over Corrin).

    She obviously wouldn’t be locked for a win in lead (it’s only February after all and someone could very well come out of nowhere and stop her) but if the drama actress category remains as it is currently looking when we get to July, I don’t think she really would have all too many hurdles in her way. I think whether wins SAG or not over Zendaya will be a testament of how seriously the industry takes her as a contender.

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    How likely do you all think Better Call Saul’s chances of winning Writing are? The writers branch has always been the show’s biggest supporters and series finales tend to do super well in this category historically (not to mention the fact that “Saul Gone” was a universally acclaimed final episode).
