    Idk I think young nerds are going to be finding Buffy forever (said with love)

    Agreed – her IG following (a couple of million) and TikTok tags (about quarter of a billion) are pretty solid for her age so there’s an audience there.

    Actresses about her age with a back catalog (clips, press etc) tend to do quite well with Gen Z because they’re a TikTok goldmine of content they can repost/edit, so trying to get her back out there now might work, even if this isn’t the project for it.  Plus I’m pretty sure the rights for Buffy are a bit transient, so they might be looking at picking them up.

    They actually just moved from Netflix/Prime to Hulu in the US/Disney everywhere else. 20th Century Fox owns the distribution rights and Disney have been trying to consolidate all their properties under one banner (The Americans just moved to Hulu as well) so I think they’ll more likely stay there than not.

    Over here All4 (Channel 4’s streaming servicd picked up free for streaming rights to the show only for it to be removed a year later so I think having everything all in one home is something Disney are quite passionate about (most of Paramount Plus’s CBS catalogue on the other hand is still streaming on the other more established streaming services).

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    I sort of wonder if Paramount+ have identified the UK as being a particularly strong market for her given visibility and maybe a way to expand there? We haven’t really had much promo for Wolf Pack here but other things get a lot of hyper-focus. That stuff is also occasionally not always very linear (i.e some Brits do better in the US, some Americans in the UK etc).

    A lot of american actresses who were famous in their 20’s seem to do pretty well over in the UK. Gillian Anderson ofc, Julia Stiles had a successful british series, I know there are more that I can’t think of. I think their entertainment market is a bit less youth obsessed than the US one.

    I wouldn’t neccessarily say she’s that much more disproportionately popular over here than in the US at least compared to other American TV actors of that certain period (The Crazy Ones never came on air over here in spite of almost everything David E. Kelley wise tending to get snapped up here, Ringer attracted some attention but never really got as sizable press attention as I imagine it might have in the US) but Buffy was one of the few shows that aired linearly on the BBC and ITV and struck a bit of cultural chord over here over the late 90s/early 00s like The X-Files and Entourage (the latter of which eventually spawning Mr Selfridge with Piven) so she is definitely known here.

    She’s been doing the talk show round in the US as well and is receiving the career tribute award at the SCAADTV festival so I don’t think they’ve been particularly targeting the UK more than the US. It is strange how much they do seem to be promoting it here though because I don’t even think they gave The Offer that push here like they did in the US (and The Godfather of it all aside that show starred one of the stars of the biggest movie of the Summer and a number of fairly established British actors lol) which is why I thought they may be trying to use this as a launch pad for Yellowjackets (which did get some attention over here when it was on Sky and which they’ve done some notable promotion on Twitter for already, even releasing teasers from its UK account instead of the official Yellowjackets Twitter account).

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    I can’t think of concrete examples but I feel like I’ve also been seeing a disproportionate level of promotion for it here (Canada, although a lot of American promo stuff tends to get recycled/aired here)

    Ricci did almost all UK press for Wednesday when it came out, most of which read as soft press for Yellowjackets (which I thought was odd because CZJ seems the more obvious choice).

    I’d say Catherine Zeta-Jones fits into your theory of some Brits being more popular in the US and vice-versa actually! She’s obvious a name but she’s obviously US based and she rarely works over here so she wouldn’t neccessarily be that much of a draw (I also get the impression in general that there’s a bit of a generational thing going on in terms of who her audience is). Ricci on the other hand is Wednesday Addams and has had top billing in quite a few smaller indie productions and European films so her being the press focus for it doesn’t really surprise me (especially as the Addams Family very much has cross-generatipnal appeal).

    I feel confident in Andor, Better Call Saul, The Crown, The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Yellowjackets making in. That leaves one slot, for now I’m going with Bad Sisters but it could be Mandalorian or HOTD or even a new show knocking even the ones I’m confident out.

    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
