What a strange era we’re in
Filmed shows getting axed, renewals being reversed, crazy.FYC:
The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!
January 30, 2023 at 3:05 pm #1205275180Yellowjackets is literally carrying Showtime on its back lol.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

January 30, 2023 at 4:05 pm #1205275239well shut this thread down! TLOU after ep. 3 is taking it*!
*= every Emmy
January 30, 2023 at 5:32 pm #1205275314I would like Bella Ramsey to get a nomination, but the track record of younger actresses getting in Lead Actress is hard. Unless you are Zendaya, and she is a lot older than Bella is. People like Milly Bobby Brown, who is arguably the lead of ST got in Supporting. But had no shot of winning.
If The Last of Us ends up being a top contender I think she should be able to overcome this (almost like Hannah Einbinder did for the first season of Hacks). The Last of Us has a lot of visibility and that category is an absolute wasteland outside of Staunton and Lynskey who aren’t going into this Emmy season as the strongest contenders themselves (both have already lost to Zendaya with Staunton doing so in spite of Euphoria flopping at the guilds and Lynskey in spite of no one having ever repeated in drama lead at the Emmys under this system and both The Crown and Yellowjackets are starting off in this category as mid to low tier series contenders). I’m not sure about whether she will be able to win or not seeing as with the exception of Patricia Arquette and Zendaya who were both already quite established every winner in this category this century has been a previous awards nominee/winner even in fields like the one we had in 2021 with Corrin and Rodriguez voters still defaulted to the performer with the stronger awards track record. But seeing as the other options currently in this category are Sharon Horgan and Natasha Lyonne in smaller shows that could do really well or might not and also rans like Emma D’Arcy, Elisabeth Moss etc I’d probably predict her than not at this point.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

January 30, 2023 at 7:23 pm #1205275465I miss Keri Russell, I hope The Diplomat is good.
It needs to be good, honestly. I refuse to believe she left her home to go to London for half the year for nothing lol.
Re: Guest Actor – I’m binging Andor currently and I thought Andy Serkis would make a great winner but then I saw episode 3 of The Last of Us and now I’m fully behind Offerman. Great year for that category though, and it’s only January!
January 30, 2023 at 7:28 pm #1205275467yeah, having read all the books, after the couples’ Happily Ever Afters, they mostly have minimal time and relevance to the plot, so the writers don’t have to really do much to write them out
