I like Pascal but outside of 2 episodes, he does nothing that makes me root for him, Ramsay has been the standout easily.

Odenkirk or Cox should win here, it’s their last chance and both should have won before already.

C’mon Emmys do the right thing!!!

"EGOT" and "Triple Crown of Acting" winner: VIOLA DAVIS!!!!

For those who don’t watch The Mandalorian or aren’t up to date with the series: Katee Sackhoff has already appeared in all of the first four episodes of this current season, so she’ll have to be submitted as Supporting.

No sign of Giancarlo Esposito as of yet. If he is absent from one more episode, he will be eligible as a Guest.

I don’t see Pascal winning…His performance was very good but I feel like the performance itself lacks passion.. whoever the winner is, I feel it would be very close thus favoring the performance with most passion…I’m predicting Strong for now with Cox a little behind him, and Odenkirk as the dark horse…I know it’s a different system but it kind of reminds me of Aaron Paul/Esposito supporting race where the fan favorite Emmy winner prevailed again despite stiff competition from the swan song of his co-star…

Just saw all the Snook acclaim (are we surprised?). We have to come up with a plan to get her the Emmy 😭

One could argue Lee jung-jae also didn’t have that much passion, but he was on the big populist hit and that was enough to carry him over the line, Odenkirk for 6A and even Adam Scott were more buzzy and arguably had more passion than him, but they weren’t able to stop the populist pick. Succession also won Series over Squid Game but the leads were no show (although that case might be due to vote splitting).

The Last of Us actually feels quite similar to Squid Game’s positioning overall last year: probably the runner-up in Series, likely to benefit from votesplits in Lead Actor and Directing but win-competitive for its lead actress as well, and TLOU is looking very likely to pick up a Guest trophy as well (for Offerman)

FYC: Bad Sisters (Anne-Marie Duff) Cunk on Earth (Diane Morgan), Fleishman Is in Trouble (Lizzy Caplan/Claire Danes), Industry (Marisa Abela/Myha'la Herrold), Physical (Rose Byrne), Poker Face (Ellen Barkin/Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Chloë Sevigny), The White Lotus (Sabrina Impacciatore)

This is a question I have as it also relates to Fiona Shaw in Andor and her BAFTA nod for Supporting Actress. I understand the rules for guest acting submissions re: 50% rule. But does the inverse apply–Fiona Shaw is in five of 12 Andor episodes–could Disney+ submit her as Supporting Actress even though she technically qualifies as a Guest Actress submission? And same possibly with Esposito?

Yes. Zazie Beetz was eligible for Guest for Atlanta s3 and FX still submitted her in Supporting for example.

    That’s The White Lotus

Above the line, it’s entirely conceivable that Coolidge is TWL’s only win.

Lee had lack of passion?…I’m not sure I agree with that, many like to pretend like It’s Emmy success was due to how big it was but I’m not sure I agree with that…The finale was divisive but Gganbu was one of the most acclaimed episode of any show last year and Lee’s performance was front and center of it… I’d argue if any competitor suffered from lack of Passion it was Adam Scott, acclaim for Severance was centered on it’s writing and especially the directing for the finale…I loved Severance and my MVP were Tillman and Turturro and I know many who shared this sentiment, Scott performance was very subdued a bit like Pascal this year save for one or two big scenes…You don’t win CC, SAG and an Emmy through lack of passion

There’s also a lot of projection in people’s personal preferences on here in regards to predicting (or not predicting) Pascal. I see a lot of opinions on here of well he didn’t too enough, he’s too subtle, Odenkirk is better, Odenkirk/Cox should win over him because they’re overdue, etc. Well that is undeniably an unpopular opinion because his performance not just him as a person is acclaimed by both critics and audiences. He has plenty of viral tweets about him as a person, but also about his performance. He has at least three episodes that he could choose from as winning tapes (the premiere, episode 6, the finale), and is very comparable to Lee’s win last year. He can obviously lose but to act like he’s not anywhere near competitive for the win because you don’t think he should be is not a justifiable reason.

Yeah, I actually don’t think Pascal is passionless at all? He’s received great notices from both critics and especially audiences. His performance is definitely more restrained at the beginning, but it’s definitely showier at the back half of the season when he gets more material to chew on (and honestly, that’s when Ramsey receives their more dramatic material, as well). Not to mention Pascal has buzz galore right now and even seems to have some industry goodwill, as well. And as far as the alternatives go, I still have reservations that Cox and Strong can overcome their vote-split, even with the last season and their show’s acclaim, and I think Odenkirk’s show will continue to go Emmy-less. So as long as The Last of Us performs the way it needs to in nominations, I feel rather confident in predicting Pascal to win.

Edit: Just saw ReginaIsKing’s post above me, mentioning the exact phrasing of ‘critics and audiences’; hope it doesn’t look like I copied their thoughts haha.

We’ll never know if Pascal would’ve won GG, CC and SAG if TLOU premiered earlier, he could’ve, he could’ve not, but I don’t think it’s that implausible that he, on a big populist show (which SAG loveeeess btw) could’ve stopped Bateman, Odenkirk and Kevin Costner (lmao at the latter).
