I think HBO should consider moving Olivia Cooke down to guest (she’s in four episodes, so she’s eligible) and to be honest D’Arcy and Considine down to supporting too.

screentimecentral says both Coolidge and Plaza were onscreen 18% of the time. not exactly overwhelming.
less than both daddario & lacy in S1.March 23, 2023 at 4:14 am #1205360817Same. He’s top 4 for a reason and honestly based on performances seen (can’t speak to the final season of Succession) all four would be worthy winners. My hesitancy on Pascal is more about separating the performance from the online fave/celebrity of it all.
I do definitely think there is a discrepancy is Pascal’s buzz between people actually loving his performance and people just thirsting over him lol. Maybe it’s just my own Twitter bubble, but I’ve seen way more tweets of him calling himself a daddy (lol) than people praising his performance. That’s not to say there aren’t many people out there who are passionate about this performance, but there are definitely many people who are just into him as a person/celeb.

Yep, it’s not that hype and performance appreciation can’t exist, it’s more just trying to work out the weighting of those two things. I feel like after the HoTD hype train dropping off I am a bit prone to wait til closer to the end of the cycle. I don’t really have any hesitation around Pascal and Ramsey being nominated, but I am not really confident in predicting them to win.

Samba TV says it has had a significant dropoff this season.
March 23, 2023 at 6:21 am #1205360878With her recent BAFTA nod this morning, do we have confirmation whether or not I Hate Suzie Too is eligible for the Emmys? The first series was not, and that was an absolute shame because no one is delivering like Billie Piper in that role.

I don’t believe it is by virtue of the fact it was acquired vs commissioned initially (I think with continuing series it depends on what happens with season 1, dont quote me on it but Derry Girls has the same scenario with Netflix).

Variety’s new predictions:
1. Succession
2. The Last of Us
3. The White Lotus
4. Yellowjackets
5. The Crown
6. House of the Dragon
7. Better Call Saul

March 23, 2023 at 7:58 am #1205360958I think I’ll stick to The Diplomat as the eighth slot for now

Not even a day later and I’m already being proven right, lol.
I’m already dreading all the inevitable “snub” pieces from part-time Emmy pundits if/when HOTD only gets Creative Arts noms, whilst all of us could see it coming from December.
March 23, 2023 at 8:38 am #1205361054Lol it is actually annoying when pundits who normally follow the Oscars quickly shift to the Emmys after the Oscars are over without seemingly doing any research.
I don’t think a series nomination is completely out of the question for HOTD, but it’s #8 at best right now.
March 23, 2023 at 9:17 am #1205361088I will agree with Kat that considering the poor performance that House of the Dragon had in the guilds, it would be a good idea if they submitted Olivia Cooke in Guest instead of Supporting (I’m not so sure about moving Considine and D’Arcy to Supporting because Supporting has twice as many strong candidates compared to Lead).

Good point.
I think my rationale with Cooke is if they do capitulate but manage to get that, it at least gives them something to work with going in to their second season. An Emmy nomination is an Emmy nomination.
