What is up with the media being so unaware about House of the Dragon, it flopped with a major F at the guilds and it’s above BCS who was nominated by pretty much all of them? And The Crown who got SAG and WGA as well? Like, two minutes of research would prevent these type of predictions.
They actually mentioned this
“I’m predicting a drama series nomination for House of the Dragon despite being nearly completely ignored by the four major guilds. It only received a Screen Actors Guild nomination for stunts, which it lost to Stranger Things. Yet, I’m still predicting it mostly because it’s a pre-sold property backed by a major, Emmy-friendly content provider. The guild mentions it missed out on were all dominated by series that premiered far earlier in 2022 and were eligible within a different Emmy cycle.”
I still don’t think HotD is getting nominated tho
March 24, 2023 at 1:20 pm #1205362734It can get nominated, but above BCS? It is not.

Terrific in every aspect and consistent throughout. Such a shame the Emmys probably won’t nominate it for anything sans a few techs. Would be win-worthy in Series.
Emmys FYC:
Comedy: The Bear, Cunk on Earth, Only Murders in the Building, Reservation Dogs
Drama: The Last of Us, Stranger Things
Limited/Movie:

Lol I can excuse them ignoring what happened at the guilds but making false assertions is something else entirely. There were 7 shows from this cycle that made it in over it at DGA, PGA, SAG and WGA.
Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!
March 24, 2023 at 1:53 pm #1205362804I think a slightly better justification would be the possibility of House of the Dragon being the same case as The Mandalorian Season 1, where even with the poor performance in the guilds, it should get a Drama Series nomination because of the visibility.
But above Better Call Saul and The Crown? Nope.
Also, at this point I remain more convinced that Andor will be nominated over The Mandalorian.

March 25, 2023 at 10:37 am #12053635074 HBO shows seems too much IMO. That’s my only issue with predicting House of the Dragon as the 8th slot
March 25, 2023 at 10:43 am #12053635154 HBO shows is more probable to me than 2 Star Wars shows especially looking at how The Mandalorian is performing so far. And stuff like Bad Sisters is ultimately too small and buzzless to happen, imo. HoTD remains a safer choice.
March 25, 2023 at 10:45 am #1205363517Do we think that The Idol can break through? I know that HBO are going all out on it especially with it premiering out of competition at Cannes, but could all the controversy hinder its chances?
FYC:
Only Murders in the Building: Outstanding Comedy Series
Selena Gomez: Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
Steve Martin, Martin Short: Lead Actor in a Comedy SeriesThe Handmaid's Tale: Outstanding Drama Series
Elisabeth Moss: Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Yvonne Strahovski: Supporting Actress in a Drama SeriesSolidarity with the WGA!
March 25, 2023 at 10:47 am #1205363521I think it’ll have no problem with hype and viewership, it’s content that’ll hinder its chances. I got to see a screener of the pilot cos of my job — craft is there, but it relies entirely on shock value to the point it becomes obnoxious. I remember the plot was an indecent photo of Lily Rose’s character leaking online. Couldn’t have just been a simple nude, it was a photo of her with semen on her face. It was not well executed.

It’s for next season, there’s no space in HBO’s schedule this season anymore, it will probably debut on June or July.
But for 2024? I don’t think so.He lives in you, he lives in me, he watches over everything we see.
