Ik most people want Macfadyen to win again this year but I’m also really rooting for Culkin (Macfadyen already has one, Culkin deserves one too)

Hotd being so far ahead of andor and even the madalorian despite it’s absymal guild performance feels off… Likewise Matt Smith being above Jonathan banks despite BCS receiving a SAG ensemble nod and Banks an individual actor nod…I would understand in an unlimited ballot people checking the show off cuz of visibility but I don’t see it under a restricted ballot…

I feel like in general a lot of people are underestimating the difference the restricted ballot will have on the nominations compared to recent years.

I saw the SXSW premiere of the new damon lindelof show Mrs. Davis. Could definitely be a dark horse contender for nominations if it catches on with audiences, I think it will. Though i’m not sure how critics will react yet. Could see it going comedy. I enjoyed it a lot. Very zany and unpredictable. Betty Gilpin would be a very worthy contender. Watch out for Margot Martindale in guest actress.

Worried about it being on peacock, but I do think the show has potential to gather a very loyal fan base.

I loved the trailer but I worry about the Peacock of it all and coming so late. I love Gilpin and tend to think she’s underrated

Mrs. Davis might end up being the new The Leftovers, a phenomenal show praised by the critics and its fans, but it will ultimately be snubbed for not being well-enough seen. Margo Martindale could still get a nomination, though, just like she used to do for The Americans.

Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

I shall so miss Roman Roy. If he doesn’t win this season I hope Culkin gets his moment in the final series to break the losing nomination streak.

I also hope Lewis gets the recognition that she deserves although I think it unlikely for non acting reasons

Something I’m very curious to see (and this is the same with some of the shows on the comedy side like Ted Lasso, Barry and Maisel) is what effect the combination of the return of the restricted ballot and late release dates have on who shows like Yellowjackets and Succession end up getting nominated. For example if say Tawny Cypress has showier material in the first half of the season and Juliette Lewis has showier material in the second half of the season and a lot of voters are behind due to the watching backlog that could very well develop this year, does that place the former ahead of the latter even though the latter is already a previous Emmy nominee? Or do voters looking at the state of the field just check both off along with Lynskey anyway due to how thin the drama actress field is looking in contenders?
