By the way, are the guests on The Last of Us eligible if the show gets an ensemble nod? It would be criminal if Offerman and Bartlett didn’t get one.

I think Anna Torv and Merle Dandridge should be eligible due to being recurring cast members but everyone else is ineligible (almost like with Only Murders in the Building season 1 when Jackie Hoffman was eligible but Jane Lynch wasn’t).

Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

HBO FYC if you’re lurking, please submit Sarah Snook as Lead Actress. It’s a justifiable switch. J Smith Cameron could then take Supporting — a dream ballot.

I never understood why People love J. Smith Cameron so much on Succession I wouldn’t nominate her for any season so far (that might change with the final season ). She doesn’t do anything spectacular she’s just kind of there.

This is random, but how do we think Yellowjackets will fare at SAG this year?

As long as there isn’t much competition from Netflix and Amazon. Everyone in the industry knows the union is in bed with those studios.

It’s not even guaranteed that Snook can beat Jennifer Coolidge, never mind J Smith Cameron. But I do agree a category change for Snook into lead is appropriate.

I really hope House of the Dragon surprises us all with a plethora of major nominations. Miguel S, Ryan Condal, Paddy, D’Arcy, Cooke and Smith all deserve. They delivered a fine season and tbh “The Lord of the Tides”, “The Black Queen” and “Driftmark” are easily highlights in the Game of Thrones universe.

It’s weird for me, because I absolutely do not want it showing up in Series, but I do want all of those you mentioned, plus Alcock, to receive nominations. The problem is that the quality of those three episodes wasn’t maintained throughout the entire season. It was like the most inconsistent TV season I’ve ever seen, delivering terrific episodes like those aforementioned, and subpar episodes like “We Light the Way.” I think that really alienated a lot of voters which is why we’ve seen it underperform. If it gets anything ATL, I think we can be optimistic about its future chances now that there aren’t any more of those godawful time jumps. But this year just seems to be a sort of a non-starter unfortunately.

I assume that no show has ever received seven ATL nominations without a Series nom right?

    Emmys FYC:

Comedy: The Bear, Cunk on Earth, Only Murders in the Building, Reservation Dogs

Drama: The Last of Us, Stranger Things

I’m still mad they gave Paul Mescal’s nomination to Adam Sandler. So shameless, so transparent.

    For Your Emmy Consideration:

Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook - Succession
Selena Gomez - Only Murders in the Building
Elizabeth Olsen - Love & Death

    J. Smith Cameron winning would be the equivalent to Tobias Menzies winning against Michael K. Williams in 2021, only way less likely.

Regarding geekfests that could get nominated, HOTD needs to get real about their cast. Placement in Lead absolutely did not fly for Considine. He missed even with freakin Critic’s Choice tends to be more populist with nominations. Put them all in Supporting and maybe then someone will be nominated.

Andor has better chance in Drama than acting. Disney would be fools to push for Mandalorian instead since quality and viewership dropped hard and that’s the story now, that it lost watercooler buzz. Barely anyone talks about it. Charm is all gone now that focus is insufferable Bo Katan.

LOTR:TROP should be dead in the water despite Amazon FYC page opening with the promp for that shyt. There’s zero passion for it. BAFTA TV and AACTA International completely ignored it so don’t expect foreign votes to prop it. It missed some big techs (Cinematography, Sound Mixing, Hair and Makeup) and only cleaned up expected (VFX and Art Direction). Should lose all those techs to TLOU. Unlike TLOU, it isn’t too big to ignore cause at least in domestic market it was resoundly beaten by at least 5 shows last year.

TLOU is the only one that’s guaranteed to be a big player due to watercooler buzz. It transcended its target audience and became a household name. Much like GOT in its prime. True TV phenomenon too big to ignore.

It’s complicated, it’s a sliding scale of episodes (i.e 4 of 10) plus it is also related to some contract stuff, and that’s just now, I think it’s changed over the years because there’s the occasional GoT omission that otherwise seems eligible too.

    Currently:

    Series regulars =

    2 (for 4-6 eps)

    3 (for 7-8)

    4 (for 9-11)

Majority episodes for guest star billed performers (ie 6 for 10)

You have to have two season regulars to make ensemble, so The Last of Us is only eligible for Pedro and Bella. Both The Mandalorian and The Sandman only just qualifiy for ensemble as well.

Key and Peele did get nominated once so it’s possible to get in a duo.

    Also:

“Actors who do not meet the eligibility requirements for inclusion
in the winning Comedy or Drama Ensemble, but who appeared
in three (3) or more episodes of that show during the calendar
year 2022 are eligible to receive a certificate.”

For TLOU, you can submit individual actors for one episode in performer, Netflix did it last year with Zeta-Jones and Guzman (which was ridiculous)

I’m thinking Lynskey only and even then it will depend on how strong Yellowjackets end up being. The acting is way too subdued for SAG and they don’t like subdued and “weird” style of acting imo.

Hypothetically Ricci could happen, she has been nominated by them before.

I think she’s best in Season 2, but there’s an easy answer to this – they just really like Smith Cameron, and she benefits from people pairing her with Culkin mentally. In early days she also did disproportionate press to screen time (the others do a lot more now) and was a massive advocate for the show when it needed one.

I agree with this – I actually think both lead campaigns are silly, though I understand keeping D’Arcy due to the Globe nom (but also, not really).

The show has no absolute lead and, even if you discount screentime, no discernible lead on the basis of either interest or visibility.
