When Stranger Things wins Outstanding Drama Series for two episodes that total four hour. (I know it’s not eligible for that)
March 27, 2023 at 7:21 am #1205365418Coolidge is not losing, folks, come on. We’ve been through this.
March 27, 2023 at 7:22 am #1205365420Since best actress in a drama is wasteland this season and Jennifer Coolidge will be hard to beat in supporting, Sarah Snook really should change from supporting to lead. She’s always been one of the leads anyway and this season makes that crystal clear.
The way Succession took the most disgustingly wealthy, self-involved and pitch-black evil family of buffoons and turned them into television’s most tragic and deeply felt characters is a magic trick that’s going to be studied for the next decade. I have a feeling this final season is going to be like Mad Men Season 4 where every episode felt like a possibly world-ending event that paid off every thread, plot, character or thematic, to the most devastating ends possible.
Jesus, That premiere was heartbreaking, Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfayden are taking all the awards.
March 27, 2023 at 8:03 am #1205365455Netflix’s FYC website is now updated and listing Stranger Things at the top, so it appears to be a priority for wherever it can submit: https://series.netflixawards.com/drama-series/stranger-things
I think that’s fine/realistic given guilds. In another year both The Umbrella Academy and The Sandman might sneak in a few more places but not this year, plus Wednesday is hour long so will probably be their priority in places like costumes and makeup.

Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!
March 27, 2023 at 8:42 am #1205365481This is me rooting for Succession over The Last of Us in every single category above the line but still siding with Torv and Offerman in the guest categories.

Sarah has recency bias, and the locked best drama series champion in her arsenal.
FYC:
Sarah Snook - Succession

March 27, 2023 at 10:13 am #1205365633I still think Snook has a better chance in Lead. Supporting has a set frontrunner while lead is wide open, and this way HBO wouldn’t have to compete against itself and they could fully devote their resources to both of them.

Well, HBO would have to compete against itself either way.
Regardless The Last of Us being a serious threat or not, I am pretty sure they will treat the show as big competition, investing resourcers on Ramsey and cia. I agree she have a easier path in the Lead, but she already lost two times even giving outstanding performances.
Putting her in lead is the best decision. Coolidge is a lock for the win and with Snook and Ramsey in lead, they have two good chances.
The bonus Snook have this time is Shiv being in a more vulnerable and fragile position with more chances to people (dumb voters) caring for her (plus the final chance to reward her with an Emmy).

March 27, 2023 at 11:29 am #1205365765The twist if Rhea ends up our winner lol more seriously, with the state of the category and if Snook/Coolidge/Debicki don’t move, she would probably be nominated in lead.
March 27, 2023 at 11:29 am #1205365767Rhea Seehorn winning in Lead?
I can’t believe I discussed here the possibility of Snook, Coolidge or Debicki switching to Lead, and completely forgot that Seehorn switching to Lead would also make sense, at least in theory.

Splitting Seehorn and Burnett is smart.
Ohhhhhhh AMC move Rhea to lead please.
