Rachel Griffiths and Elisabeth Moss made some sense being in lead (even though I always considered the former supporting) but I never understood Piper Laurie being in lead for Twin Peaks LMAO. I mean the fact that the show has no female lead aside, even if it did it would most certainly not be her. Ann Dowd is more of a lead in The Handmaid’s Tale.

I JUST finished S1 of Twin Peaks the other day, and when I finished I was like, “Wait, that’s it? That’s the entirety of the screen time Piper Laurie had?” Like, the receptionist had more screen time 💀

I don’t think he was ever moved to supporting nor was he ever nominated but it always amused me that Rob Lowe submitted himself in lead for Parks and Rec.

Update: Giancarlo Esposito didn’t appear in the first five episodes of The Mandalorian, so he may be eligible as a Guest.

It wouldn’t have swept but I still think season 4 would have been competitive for the series win if it was competing in this field. With only Succession and Euphoria of the main contenders ineligible at the winter awards that year it still near-swept and Gillian Anderson in particular swept over a titan like Julia Garner (who has otherwise essentially been unbeatable). I think it would have performed at the Emmys almost like Schitt’s Creek did at the winter awards (after also sweeping with weaker competition) when it came up against the first season of Ted Lasso and split awards with the other shows it was contending against.

Oh I agree. Anderson probably still would’ve won, Directing could’ve beat Squid Game, and it would’ve been putting up a fight in Actress and Series, but I think that probably would’ve been it’s cap (4) vs the 7 categories it easily won. There easily COULD have been a scenario in which it walked away with only 1-2 awards in which case an underperformance this season would on paper look less surprising.

no it went downhill real fast lol. There were a couple of ok episodes later on but the finale was terrible hence the cancellation. Episode 1 really was pretty good though and had set things up well

I actually thought episode 9 (Rewind 1921) was the best episode that show did by a wide margin. The rest all ranged from mid to pretty good, but episode 9 was great.

1 was very good, 6,8,9 were ok/good. Rest were mid-bad with 10 being awful. Smollett, Majors and Williams were mostly good

I’m very curious to see how Last of Us is going to do.   I just think it would be very difficult for a show’s first season to upset Succession in its final season, no matter how popular it is.

And the same goes for Pedro going up against Strong and Cox.

I think Bella has the best chance of taking Lead Actress, even if Snook get moved up to Lead.

80 percent, that pretty good. I did not think the trailer looked good at all

I thought the trailer may have given more the impression of supernatural over speculative which I get mostly because it isn’t the cheapest show and needs audience. The book is a little bit Handmaid’s, a little bit The Boys.

Should be noted the show appears to have been converted to fully BAFTA eligible.

    Lmao.

Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

Is a nomination possible? Possibly supporting category

The production history on that is really insane so I’d probably want to see reviews before making any statements. Those sorts of thrillers/action series don’t tend to be what voters go for or are very heavily FYCd, but they tend to do very well commercially.

Am I crazy for thinking Sophie Nelisse has a better chance of getting in than Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress ?

    Yes

He lives in you, he lives in me, he watches over everything we see.
Into the water, into the truth, in your reflection, he lives in you.
