As someone who absolutely hates the anti-vaxx/anti science movement with a passion (I’m not going to get into this discussion on here), will people in Hollywood even care about this? It’s not like people have stopped hiring her (she just shot three high profile shows last year). I think if anything seeing Woody Harrelson and Tilda Swinton’s recent comments on Covid protocols there might even be a number of people in the industry who, rather unfortunately, agree with her.

I don’t know. My personal compass on it isn’t in Hollywood. I think there are certainly cases where I suspect people aren’t getting nominated for various personal reasons but then you also see people unconcerned about other things.

Everything seems more political than it used to be.

As long as they haven’t committed a crime, I try and pay no heed to any of it. I don’t have to agree with someone to like their performance.
I’d rather watch a talent who I disagreed with than someone who is poor at acting who I fully agreed with.
there’s plenty of time for that outside of watching for entertainment.

I tend to do the same thing and I like Juliette in the show a lot, I more just mentioned it because it’s a tight race where who they chose for the last few spots is going to come down to a bunch of factors (visibility, how ingrained or well liked they are in industry, previous awards, strength of show etc).

do think whoever they go for it is likely to be someone who has been around for a while, what factors determine who is anyone’s guess.

I like her but did not know she was anti vax, a bit disappointed but oh well.

Obviously it’s too early to talk about 2024 and there are more important things at stake with the writers strike but I was just reading more about it and it’s interesting how long the shutdown might actually end up being from it if they decide to go on strike when the contract goes up in May. Especially seeing as a lot of shows like Stranger Things, The Handmaid’s Tale, The White Lotus and Yellowjackets are all set to start rolling cameras over the Summer and early Autumn and shows like Andor, Better Call Saul, The Last of Us, The Mandalorian and Succession are all either ending or won’t return this cycle. Are we really about to have a drama field where Severance, The Crown and The Morning Show are our only returning major contenders haha?

I think there is a strong likelihood that shows are preparing for minimum runs, not just for Emmys but because being away too long is a strain on any show. It’s rarely done but you can run a minimum of three episodes for a returning series, which honestly, I’d be okay with.

I finally got around to finishing Severance last night after putting it off for a while (first few episodes weren’t grabbing me all that much).

But after finishing the season, I totally understand the hype! One of the best first seasons of a show I’ve seen in a while and that finale ruled! I have a feeling it could definitely start winning big with the Emmys for subsequent seasons.

Been toying with the idea of slotting in Impacciatore for a little while now…

At the very least, I think she could be higher than is reflected in the prediction center. Coolidge and Plaza are obviously ahead, and Fahy most likely is as well, but Impacciatore has some amazing moments both comedically and dramatically, and people really really liked her character. Granted, with Succession and BCS also ending, the entire category is largely defined by “last chance” actresses, but I could see some voters dedicating a slot or two more than they normally would to The White Lotus because this is the *only* chance they’ll have to recognize these performances.

Not 100% secure on it, but if Snook and/or Seehorn moves up to Lead, I’m tossing her in.

FYC: Bad Sisters (Anne-Marie Duff) Cunk on Earth (Diane Morgan), Fleishman Is in Trouble (Lizzy Caplan/Claire Danes), Industry (Marisa Abela/Myha'la Herrold), Physical (Rose Byrne), Poker Face (Ellen Barkin/Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Chloë Sevigny), The White Lotus (Sabrina Impacciatore)

I think the problem with drama supporting actress (and I presume the reason why Impacciatore is so low in the odds) is that there are so many supporting actress performances people feel passionate about but not enough slots to recognise them so someone is going to get lost in the shuffle. You can even argue this was already shown at SAG this year with Plaza and Seehorn missing (which obviously are not significant misses by any means) in spite of The White Lotus and Better Call Saul missing just because of how tight that lineup was.

Nonetheless though I do agree Impacciatore should be higher in the odds and taken more seriously as a contender (at least on the basis that she’s playing the hotel manager and the person who was the hotel manager in season 1 obviously won last year so voters could be keeping an eye on her). I think the best thing for her is if one of Seehorn/Snook/Debicki move up to lead or The White Lotus ends up being much stronger than we’re expecting it to and she knocks out Smith-Cameron. I have her 9th just below the latter and just ahead of Duff and Manville.

I wonder if HotD will be like The Morning Show where it gets several above the line nominations but still misses in Series.

Eh, The Morning Show maxed out at SAG for both seasons, Dragon only got Stunts.

Fair point. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the show (only got to like the 4th episode, I think?), but it’s still really surprising to me how poorly it did with the guilds.

Maybe award shows just don’t like awarding prequels to popular Emmy winners…
