“Russell’s performance is vivacious and dynamic—a true actorly joy flows into her character’s neuroses and frustrations, to say nothing of her faculty with wry dialogue, in a way that feels fresh.” Vanity Fair
She’s coming.
March 20, 2023 at 10:52 am #1205357954My two cents with Debicki is that she is a lead in The Crown season 5 but the show also revolves so much around the Queen that I’m not particularly that bothered with her going supporting.
It is jarring though when you think about Corrin being in lead and Debicki being in supporting seeing as there isn’t really that much of a difference between them in screen time or narrative prominence (you could even argue Debicki has more of the latter seeing how a lot of this season was about the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage whilst Charles and Diana’s relationship was kind of sharing the limelight with the arrival of Thatcher and the conflict between her and the Queen in season 4).

Though it has not yet been confirmed, common sense would dictate putting “The White Lotus” star Jennifer Coolidge in the lead category for her work on Season 2, given how it’s her character’s continued storyline specifically that made the TV Academy for the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series-winning show to switch categories.
It’s just speculation.

Exactly, no way she’s gonna switch categories when her win is certain in supporting.

I mean her win is certain in either category so a switch wouldn’t be surprising. HBO would surely prefer a guaranteed lead win over a supporting one. It also gives more space to the other TWL ladies.

March 20, 2023 at 2:13 pm #1205358117Would have won over Zendaya??…This statement is unproven, and the latter statement reeks of generic Stan behavior
March 20, 2023 at 2:23 pm #1205358138Hmm it’s clearly just speculation based on the article but if they are considering it I think it’s a risk (not that HBO cares what I think lol). She has supporting basically on lock but there are a lot of unknown variables in lead. She’s swept the winter awards but that’s not always a guarantee, a lot can happen between March and September. Maybe Yellowjackets comes out and blows up in the ratings, maybe this new Keri Russell show is a big hit and we get an overdue narrative, what if The Last of Us does way better with voters than we’re expecting or the same voters that have gotten The Crown two best actress wins rally around Staunton.
I probably would still put her in first in my predictions if she were in lead, but it would be a more tenuous first place. In Supporting she’s a lock, her only competition is either her own co-stars or actors/characters who have already proven unable to win, with no one really expected to come that could shake it up.

I mean she just beat her at SAG so it’s not insane to think she would’ve beaten her at the Emmys had they been in the same category.
With that said, I don’t see Coolidge moving to lead.
