Honestly only Blunt and Spencer did it for me.
Ciaran was quite something in his one-on-one with Emily at the pilot but that’s about it. All the others were ok but I wouldn’t nominate them.Which doesn’t diminish the value of the show, it’s still my favorite limited series of 2022.
FYC:
The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!
January 24, 2023 at 5:50 pm #1205265292I thought Rafe Spall, Kimberly Guerrero, Ciaran Hinds, Julian Bleach and Nichola McAuliffe were all stellar. The first two were nomination worthy for me.
I just hope now Chaske Spencer gets a BAFTA nomination even if the show fails to get Emmy nominations.

January 25, 2023 at 8:49 am #1205266359Daisy Jones… great gowns… beautiful gowns… I really disliked the book and the teaser didn’t do much to make me think I’ll like the show any more but I’ll give it a shot.
January 25, 2023 at 8:51 am #1205266366I’m really excited about Daisy Jones, i’m also excited about Love and Death and The Crowded Room. The three of them will be really strong contenders for the Crafts awards due do their 70s and 80s background. Daisy Jones will be really strong in Music and Holland/Olsen will probably have no trouble getting in Lead as the future contenders seems to be more focused on a ensemble cast. I hope Amanda has more of a lead role because the supporting category seems to be really full rn 😭
Not that excited about Masters of Air tho, i’m just really tired of war media, especially when it is made to be baity. Will Butler be contending for a lead spot tho? It feels ensemble to me.
The Crowded Room (2023)
Tom Holland for Lead Actor in a Limited Role
Amanda Seyfried for Lead Actress in a Limited Role
Emmy Rossum for Supporting Actress in a Limited RoleJanuary 25, 2023 at 8:59 am #1205266412I’m so out of the limited series race this year. I’ll check out The English this weekend.
Also not that I’m expecting awards for her from it, but I hope Extrapolations is good/gives Keri Russell something interesting to do. I miss her on my screen.
January 25, 2023 at 9:36 am #1205266509Looks very fun

January 25, 2023 at 10:14 am #1205266640I mean probably, but so are other things. It’s still high.
0.4 for its regular premiere. Meh for Accused.

Oof. I thought that kind of drop would only happen after Superbowl. I stand corrected.
January 25, 2023 at 10:32 am #1205266689I think Daisy Jones looks fun. I am sick of this cateory feeling like homework.
January 25, 2023 at 8:30 pm #1205267918well, the gp found inventing anna fun but gd remains bitter about its awards attention.

It’s not my fave personally (I was more okay with Garner than series) but as prognosticators we all need to remove our personal filters sometimes.
I am pretty “basic” taste wise (not to the point of only watching network procedurals, but I’m the person who’ll defend Ted Lasso and a lot of Netflix stuff) but tend to want to exert some sort of prestige filter over things which I’ve been trying to dial back. My instincts are better if I go with the basic/mainstream tendency and I get less angry at it.
January 26, 2023 at 6:36 am #1205268323Remember 2022, when Inventing Anna’s February premiere was right before a glut of highly anticipated 4th quarter limited series releases (and this subset of posts was already on part 6)? I’m feeling like there is much less buzz for such projects at this time this year, but then Painkiller and Love & Death could still get last minute releases, so we might end up with the same jolts this time around.

I think there may be the jolts you mention still to come. It feels like part of what is happening is there isn’t as much information about March/April/May release dates – though that’s based on impression, not going back to look at last year’s announcement dates. I get that sense that either streamers are still figuring out dates & whether certain series/shows can be ready, or there is some kind of strategy for late announcements. For example, Apple in theory has already announced their spring schedule, yet has it has holes and unknowns in it.
January 26, 2023 at 7:23 am #1205268369Inventing Anna had GP support even though it had bad reviews, nothing that has released this year can compare to it, that’s why i think it’s too early to be predicting a few dark horses, Love and Death and The Crowded Room has cult following with Olsen and Holland leading it, if it turns out to be bad with critics hating it then we can have another conversation bc the GP will definitely tune in for these two
