The way I’m not even going to be shocked at what gets nominated in these categories this year when Inventing Anna and Pam & Tommy got series noms over Station Eleven and Maid.. (both of these shows were absolutely robbed in the acting categories too) not to mention numerous others like Under the Banner of Heaven.
Every year we always think it can’t get worse…
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Darling I know I’m late but we need justice for them.. Patel managing to get in is amazing.

Yes, worse like nominating Disenchanted worse.
FYC:
The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);

February 4, 2023 at 7:15 am #1205283466Last year I only really liked TWL so if I get two I like this year it’s an improvement.
Fleishman being maybe nominated it’s already 1.FYC:

Patel getting in was lovely but bittersweet because we know they’d watched it

It kinda feels like they only watched the first episode though because he doesn’t get another showcase until the end of the show and it’s impossible to ignore how great Davis and Deadwyler are in their episodes.
February 4, 2023 at 8:47 am #1205283634That was my theory about Patel, he’s really baity on the first episode so if they only watched that then he’s the first that comes to mind.
Also, that category was kinda empty.FYC:

That makes me feel better.
February 4, 2023 at 10:07 am #1205283778These odds are so odd, why is Richard Jenkins ahead of GG/CC winner and SAG nominated Paul Walter Hauser?

February 4, 2023 at 10:13 am #1205283798My theory with Station Eleven is that Patel just slipped into that last (or second to last seeing how Scenes From a Marriage ended up performing) spot but then Davis and Deadwyler missed out because of the competition in the farmer’s category and the unlimited ballot yielding those results in the latter’s.
I’m glad you liked the show Methaddiction and it’s nice to see you mention Davis and Lawler! The former was honestly my MVP of the whole show and the latter gave what was probably the best child performance I’ve ever seen. It’s criminal how she didn’t even get nominated for the GD award but I hope the show’s exposure leads her towards bigger things.

- The Last of UsFebruary 4, 2023 at 6:07 pm #1205284343I don’t think Blunt will win (I think someone in the Spring will come along and take it) but in the event that this category ends up lacking a frontrunner all season long I’d be curious to see whether Oppenheimer’s release during voting could end up having an impact on her momentum. I don’t subscribe to the notion that an actor’s film buzz helps their chances when it comes to winning an Emmy (Heigl and McCarthy had more things going for them than that and Olivia Colman lost for Fleabag in spite of being the talk of Hollywood that year) and for all we know that film could be a massive dud but the pre-hype it has is (understandably) huge so if it translates post release, Blunt could be everywhere right at the right moment.

February 5, 2023 at 2:53 pm #1205288071I’m afraid that only Austin Butler and Tom Holland have enough star power and attention to kick Evan Peters ass but Apple is not collaborating 😭😭😭😭😭😭
The Crowded Room (2023)
Tom Holland for Lead Actor in a Limited Role
Amanda Seyfried for Lead Actress in a Limited Role
Emmy Rossum for Supporting Actress in a Limited RoleFebruary 5, 2023 at 3:01 pm #1205288179I don’t think Blunt will win (I think someone in the Spring will come along and take it) but in the event that this category ends up lacking a frontrunner all season long I’d be curious to see whether Oppenheimer’s release during voting could end up having an impact on her momentum. I hope she gets to campaign a bit for ‘The English’ before the ‘Oppenheimer’ press tour starts. There should be enough time, but I’m just remembering how the ‘Interstellar’ press tour prevented Jessica Chastain from campaigning for ‘A Most Violent Year’ for a good while.

The film side tends to go hard on predictions early without any real insight. He’s an Oscar nominee, they are always advantaged early.
