The film side tends to go hard on predictions early without any real insight. He’s an Oscar nominee, they are always advantaged early.
Reminds of the high early odds for Metcalf in The Dropout last year (and she still finished #5 in the odds in July).
February 5, 2023 at 10:57 pm #1205293491I’m afraid that only Austin Butler and Tom Holland have enough star power and attention to kick Evan Peters ass
Darling he’s coming

It’s baffling to think that Justin Theroux never even received an Emmy nomination (especially for The Leftovers).

“The limited series is due to air in the spring on BBC One and iPlayer and will stream on Hulu in the U.S.” I think that sentence can be read as streaming in the U.S. at some point other than the spring. Plus, after A Christmas Carol and Black Narcissus, I’m not really confident in these BBC/FX collaborations anyway.

Me neither but it’s worth pointing out that both A Christmas Carol and Black Narcissus were Christmas shows in the UK (which tend to be either excellent or in those two types of cases shows designed to take drunk people through the festive season). The BBC aren’t averse to showing things months ahead of their US transmission date (and don’t really schedule shows in tandem with Emmy season) and this year didn’t have a Boxing Day drama (which they almost always have) so the fact it is airing in the Spring instead is interesting to say the least. Maybe FX think it could be a commercial hit and therefore the BBC were contractually obliged to air it around the same time as in the US as co-producers?
Both shows were also burned on the FX linear channel in the US whilst this one seems to be going to FX on Hulu.

Maybe? Sherlock did it for different seasons and Top of the Lake too, I don’t know for different episodes tho.

February 6, 2023 at 9:18 am #1205294172No. Sherlock and Luther were both forced into limited because of their episode counts, Black Mirror was able to submit in TV Movie because of each story being self-contained without any continuing elements and Top of the Lake : China Girl was allowed to submit in limited because it got around the loophole because it wasn’t returning for another season (as was Twin Peaks).
Although in theory if Peacock argued Poker Face was a self-contained series they weren’t planning to have return for another set of episodes they probably could have tried to make a case for it to compete in limited. Otherwise it would have to submit in drama like all the other procedurals.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

He should also have been Oscar nominated for Mulholland Drive (as should Naomi Watts and Laura Harring, it’s a shame the industry wasn’t ready to acknowledge that style of acting yet in 2001). Hopefully he gets recognised this year so we can get one step closer to breaking the dry spells that have seemingly befallen both casts (thank god King and Dowd have their Emmys).

The video isn’t saying that, Discussing Film is just speculating it in that Tweet. That was mentioned at an event last year, I don’t know if it’s still current. Very possible, though.

So The Great is making eligibility after all then.
Can we get Boston Strangler in the predictions centre please?
