Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

This year is a mess and noms could come from anywhere. I have watched some contenders but I feel so detached from the field and I’m struggling to even go “you know, I didn’t like it, but voters totally will” with most of them.

March 17, 2023 at 12:17 am #1205355091Started watching Swarm (it dropped early here I think) and am up in my feelings about whether voters will go for it overall. Would love someone else to let me know what they think.
Fishback is great.
I do not have much faith in Prime campaigning it.

I watched part of episode one and I’m really enjoying it so far, I love the cinematography. I was also surprised by Chloe Bailey’s performance and the boyfriend’s, I thought they were fantastic. There’s also just this chaotic energy, I feel like I never have a clue where the show is going to take me next, something I feel hasn’t happened in a while for me. I also feel like I’ve never seen a show about stan culture/fandom like this and it’s a topic that’s really worth exploring I think.
Unfortunately the vibe I’m getting is that the show just seems too weird/out there/artsy to get much awards attention. It’s hard to even tell what the show is about so far, and I can honestly see a lot of voters just turning it off in the first few minutes. I hope I’m wrong though. Id normally say oh, this will do great with critics, but even they don’t really seem to be taking to it so I’m wondering if this just falls totally under the radar.

My early instinct is it being more of an Indie Spirits/Gothams thing than an Emmy series contender? Fishback could definitely be a thing though.

Sometimes if you do it in a quote post (i.e grab a quote first then delete it) it works for reasons I am unclear.

Am I the only person who’s scared ‘Dead Ringers’ is seen that way too? At the very least, I’m expecting another ‘Hannibal’.
