Was Candy even watched by the industry? I know it made Nielsen one time but it feels like no one talked about it. Apparently they even got Justin Timberlake on it and it made no noise 💀

It did get a producion design nomination so someone must have watched  it. This is actually  my biggest  worry about Elizabeth’s winning chances, that the voters feel like they already saw the story with Candy  so they won’t feel compelled to watch Love and Death

The only real recognition it got was a Critics Choice nom for Lynskey and that’s pretty likely just because she won for Yellowjackets the year before.

except that we already have the early reactions to back it up, this is by a way better team, and Olsen is arguably a better actress than Biel by a long shot.

Some years ago I may have agreed but I definitely don’t think by a long shot anymore. Biel was very good in the sinner and she was very good in Candy. The show however didn’t match up to some of the acting. Just my opinion but whilst Olsen is a good actress, Wanda vision is massively overrated

I don’t think Candy really had enough viewers or attention for it to cause much interference to Love and Death this year. Love and Death is a HBO production so it already had a leg up on Candy in the first place. The chances for noms/wins for the show and Olsen, Plemmons, etc is just going to come down to whether or not it’s a good show. That’s really all there is to it.

‘The Perfect Couple’ reportedly shoots from April to July so it could be ready for 2024 Emmy Awards

I doubt The Perfect Couple is ready for next year but yes the field looks exciting (unlike this one…)

It’s filming from April to June so it probably will be. Just depends on whether Netflix wants to release it in time.

I think the final six nominations will come from these 12 series. The six in bold are my current predictions:

HBO: Love & Death, White House Plumbers

Hulu/FX: Fleishman Is In Trouble, Tiny Beautiful Things, The Patient,

Apple TV+: Black Bird, The Last Thing He Told Me

Netflix: Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

Amazon: Swarm, Dead Ringers, The English, Daisy Jones and The Six

Trying to guess the priority for Amazon and for FX/Hulu is particularly difficult.

I think my biggest concern (and a SAG voter here pointed it out) is that the type of people who are inclined towards watching it are also the most likely to have watched Candy.

Having watched the last two episodes of Daisy Jones, Keough should not only be nominated but she should (although we know she wont) win.

Her range as an actress is incredible, I can think of few who could pull off a character/vocal like Daisy and a character like Stefani in Zola.

in terms of the show it definitely got better as it went along and finished strong 8-9-10. The build up episodes although I appreciated them I can see will prevent the show from having a chance to contend

It is for sure though a much better show than swarm imo

I don’t think Swarm and Daisy Jones are playing to the same audience though.

You could be correct. depends on the household I guess – 3 generations from elder teen, mid life, grandparent age loved it in my household which is pretty rare lol. As far as I can see outside of the US Swarm isn’t doing as well as Daisy Jones in any of the English speaking nations which I assume provide Amazon with the bigger subscription fees. It still remains top 2 in majority of English speaking nations many of which see swarm at 5 or 6.

It will be interesting to see the bump or non bump after the final episodes plus if there are those who wait to binge it all at once,

I am assuming you mean Daisy not Swarm, which is kind of my point. I think Swarm’s audience is a bit more niche.

Yes although 2 of the 3 (not the grandparent lol) watched swarm

The biggest difference for me in terms of the shows rather than cast is that Daisy stuck the landing and Swarm didn’t.

I’m not particularly confident on Swarm, it’s more I think one of the Amazon series’ will get in (but probably only one) and I’m currently edging towards Swarm.

It’s niche yes, but on an unlimited ballot this doesn’t have to be a hinderance.  I just feel like those who love it might have it as their stand out series in the field, versus say DJ&TS which might be liked by more people, but with less passion?

The Amazon series I’m most interested in on a personal level is Dead Ringers but that one could go either way.
