The reason Amazon has Daisy 1st on its FYC for limited is that it is doing very well which they anticipated across the English speaking nations. For the past 22 days it has been in the top 2 for each of the below territories
Swarm meanwhile after 8 days after the initial burst due to the acting names involved is not doing so well in these territories outside of the US.
Swarm on Amazon
Australia 6th, Canada 4th, Ireland 5th, New Zealand (outside top 10), Uk 5th, Us 2nd
Daisy on Amazon (currently no 1 globally for Amazon)
Australia 1st, Canada 1st, Ireland 1st, New Zealand 1st, Uk 2nd , Us 1st
Also the series rating for Daisy on Imdb is now 8 which is higher than swarm at 7.3 and the English at 7.9. Looking at the genre comparisson George & Tammy at 7.5 (69 percent on rotten tomatoes!) has viewer ratings and far less viewers. Daisy is combining pretty good viewer ratings and good viewers numbers which I would imagine is where Amazon hoped it would be. It was never going to do Netflix numbers on Amazon.

When it comes to Emmy consideration these various territories aren’t particularly important though. Swarm only really needs to perform well in the US where the majority of the voting body will be based.
Having said that, I am feeling a little stronger on DJ&TS again as, outside of Dahmer it does feel the biggest audience hit (so far).
I don’t think it can win anything above the line, but nominations in series, for Keough and Claflin seems plausible.
March 25, 2023 at 11:44 am #1205363585Crafts alone should carry Daisy Jones And The Six to a Series nomination. It’s also appealing to multiple demographics so that can only help.
Meanwhile, I can see Fleishman performing similarly to Maid or Station Eleven, writing and/or directing nom and an acting nomination (Danes) but miss Series.
As for Swarm, I don’t see a Series nomination happening. And I hope this won’t be taken in the wrong way, as I think she’s very deserving performance wise, but there’s a lack of poc options in those categories and I think that helps Fishback. Unlike Oscars, Emmys nominations have always been diverse so I fail to see all white line ups.
March 25, 2023 at 12:05 pm #1205363600Really didn’t wanna predict him (because no one saw the show) but atp I think Murray Bartlett will be namechecked for Chippendales even though no one watched. That category is BARREN.
He lives in you, he lives in me, he watches over everything we see.
Into the water, into the truth, in your reflection, he lives in you.March 25, 2023 at 12:23 pm #1205363608I think the options in supporting male will fill up a lot if White House Plumbers is a contender.

Would either of these have missed last year with a restricted ballot though?
Solidarity with the striking writers. Pay them the wages they are owed for bringing us the content we are all on here because of!

He could easily coattail on the strength of his guest nomination for TLOU
FYC 2023:
Zar Amir Ebrahimi - Shayda (Best Actress)
Helen Mirren - Golda (Best Actress)
Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt - Oppenheimer (Best Actor/Actress)March 25, 2023 at 12:45 pm #1205363628Is Anna Winger’s Transatlantic non eligible here? It’s coming in two weeks but there is like zero buzz. I find it weird because from the trailer it looks like a show that, at least, could do well in the craft categories.

Ashford and Bartlett are both deserving of nominations imo the show was forgettable but they were great.
March 25, 2023 at 1:40 pm #1205363657Welcome to Chippendales is the half baked, surface level mediocracy we often get in this category now, as a result of stars running to TV but not wanting to be tied into years long commitments that comedy and drama series bring. The acting ranges from bad to fine/serviceable. Hopefully it doesn’t get recognized.
I also finished Daisy Jones yesterday and thought it was…decent. I have problems with it, but the songs were very good and some of the performances were as well. Claflin was best in show for me. I found Keough to be inconsistent and better elsewhere. Morrone did well with what she was given but the writing kept her character pretty two dimensional. I know they’re thinking about doing a second season but I think that’d be mistake. The writing was one of the weaker aspects of the show, and without source material, I can’t imagine it getting any better.

My thoughts exactly, a very mediocre adapation of a very mediocre book. Claflin was leagues better than Keough and yet he will probably be the weakest contender in the actors category if he does get nominated

Of course, only the US matters for Emmys but it was no1 for 14 days and has returned to no1 again now on US Prime. My point was more from Amazons perspective for what they push. The more successful a project (and for Daisy it will be measured for Amazon in not only viewers, but books, clothes, audio etc) the more likely the studio put their weight behind it and the more likely they want more.
I am also very much against the feeling here too though in that Keough was far superior to Claflin imo. I will repeat few could pull off both Stefani from Zola and Daisy
March 25, 2023 at 2:48 pm #1205363706i’m sure Transatlantic is eligible

Few could and Riley isn’t one of them!
Loved her in Zola and was ready to love her as Daisy but she didn’t always work for me in that role. Found her very inconsistent.
March 25, 2023 at 3:12 pm #1205363728Bartlett, Ashford, Lewis, and Nanjiani all deserve wins tbh but they sadly will be overlooked. The series started great and ended rough but the four were pitch-perfect all throughout. It’s a shame.
