Thank you, I agree it is very annoying that they do not produce easily accurate data which leaves a lot of ambiguity and allows everyone to claim all kinds of success.
I was going off this list which is top Us streaming data (original shows) from Nielsen for 2022. It is only really useful for the new shows though as it includes data for prior seasons for older shows. It is also not useful for shows that straddle 2022-2023 at the top of the charts as is 2022 data only
1. Stranger Things (Netflix) — 34 episodes — 52 billion minutes viewed
2. Ozark (Netflix) — 44 episodes — 31.3 billion minutes viewed
3. Wednesday (Netflix) — 8 episodes — 18.6 billion minutes viewed
4. Cobra Kai (Netflix) — 50 episodes — 16.7 billion minutes viewed
5. Bridgerton (Netflix) — 16 episodes — 14 billion minutes viewed
6. Virgin River (Netflix) — 42 episodes — 13.6 billion minutes viewed
7. Dahmer: Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story (Netflix) — 10 episodes — 13.4 billion minutes viewed
8. Love Is Blind (Netflix) — 40 episodes — 13.1 billion minutes viewed
9. Inventing Anna (Netflix) — 9 episodes — 12.9 billion minutes viewed
10. The Crown (Netflix) — 50 episodes — 12.7 billion minutes viewed
11. The Boys (Prime Video) — 24 episodes — 10.6 billion minutes viewed
12. The Great British Baking Show (Netflix) — 85 episodes — 10.6 billion minutes viewed
13. The Umbrella Academy (Netflix) — 30 episodes — 10.5 billion minutes viewed
14. The Last Kingdom (Netflix) — 46 episodes — 10.4 billion minutes viewed
15. Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Prime Video) — 8 episodes — 9.4 billion minutes viewed

Yeah, it unfortunately requires you to really number crunch it which is something even the trades don’t seem to engage with, and I often think they’re a bit complicit in presenting things towards a narrative that fits their objectives. It also doesn’t help shows that are sort of short.
I do however think it’s useful to get an idea and it’s worth keeping in mind that higher viewership helps create a bigger available pool of people that have an opinion. aka
100 people watch a thing
30 percent like it and 70% are neutral or dislike it

I believe it is, although I wouldn’t mind clarification (flagging admins here) as it’s not in the prediction centre.
It’s a similar scenario to Good Luck To You Leo Grande last year, which I believe ultimately asked for an exemption to be considered for Oscars instead (i.e UK theatrical release but only a Hulu release in the US if I’m not mistaken).
March 30, 2023 at 5:50 am #1205368915Should Edgar Ramirez be more in the conversation for at least a nomination? He’s been nominated twice before and Florida Man is premiering in Netflix in April.

Netflix should add it, ‘Transatlantic’ and ‘Obsession’ to their FYC site once they premiere, right?

Probably. My guess given they’re all releasing pretty close together is they haven’t pre-prioritised (is that a word?) one because they’re expecting similar responses and waiting to see which hits best commercially.
March 30, 2023 at 7:25 am #1205369021Because of Dahmer or because you are rooting for a corporation over a corporation?
because of dahmer obviously

ah fair! I also find the idea of dahmer winning a bit ick.

This looks good. I think it can win Limited Series. The release date is still weird, though.

March 30, 2023 at 9:17 am #1205369144For the sake of my little Lena Headey stanning heart, please don’t disappoint.
A Negroni. Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.
March 30, 2023 at 9:49 am #1205369174I am part of the group that thinks that this strategy of releasing dozens and dozens of TV series in April and May can backfire. If even some of us who watch TV series frequently are already exhausted, imagine the Academy voters who don’t have time to watch everything.
