    I hope Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij’s new show Retreat ends up as a serious contender, it’s billed as an innovative whodunnit. The OA was so underrated.

    Isn’t this the one with Emma Corrin?
    I wonder when is it coming out, it’s been a long time since we heard about it.

    FYC:
    The HBO darlings everywhere (The Last of Us, Succession, The White Lotus, Perry Mason, Somebody Somewhere, White House Plumbers, Love & Death);
    The Apple gang (Bad Sisters, Slow Horses, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Black Bird);
    Poker Face, The Great, The Bear, Evil (especially Katja Herbers) and The Good Fight.

    Please! These gays, they're trying to murder me!

    Brit said it wrapped in early September, so I’d guess it is fairly soon.

    I wish the streamers/networks would date some of their stuff, I have a feeling we’re going to get that flurry of streamers only dating TV shows post mid March Oscars and have ten running concurrent again.

    If they do that again I’ll riot, specially when we had a second semester of 2022 so BARREN when it comes to limited series.

    I doubt it. With these new rules any limited series that airs a single episode outside of eligibility is automatically shifted to the next Emmy cycle so unless we’re talking a 5 or 6 episode series I presume most streamers and networks will date their Emmy tentpoles soon (as we’ve already seen with Love and Death, Daisy Jones and the Six and The White House Plumbers all going to March).

    If these new rules were applied in previous years the likes of Chernobyl, Fargo season 3, Genius seasons 1 and 2, Patrick Melrose, Roots (2016), The Staircase and Under the Banner of Heaven would have been shifted to the next Emmy cycles.

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    I was curious about that new Yellowstone spin off because of the cast but then I just saw Harrison Ford calling it a 8-hour movie and I’m like BYE
    Why are those people so afraid to say they’re doing TELEVISION on this day and age?

    At this point it just feels like a publicist line so I mostly tune out anyone who says it.

    Eh Harrison Ford has never seemed like to type of guy to say something just for PR. To be fair he’s someone who would’ve spent the vast majority of his life living in a world where most television was 20+ episode seasons of primarily self contained episodes, with the occasional 4-10 episode miniseries thrown in. For him to approach a project that’s 8 hours, with possibly largely serialized storytelling, it probably does genuinely feel to him a lot closer to an 8 hour movie than what he’s considered television to be for the first 40 years of his career.

    The showrunners of Wednesday called their series an “eight hour Tim Burton film”, which was especially laughable considering Burton only directed four episodes. Taylor Sheridan called 1883 a “ten hour movie” as well.
    I dont get it. Television has never been better.

    Netflix’s head of US scripted series hypes multiple new shows coming in a new interview for Vulture, alongside Sofia Vergara’s performance in Griselda

    Tell me what you’re most excited about on your 2023 roster. What should we keep an eye on?

    Kaleidoscope at the top of the year is going to be a heist experience like none other. I’m very excited for what Lee Sung Jin has created with Beef, which is the Steven Yeun and Ali Wong dramedy. That is a signature one-of-a-kind experience. Queen Charlotte from Bridgerton is an exceptional new entrant into the universe, and I am so eager for everyone to experience it. I think that Shawn Levy’s All the Light We Cannot See is an emotional and heartbreaking saga. Sofia Vergara in Griselda is unlike any performance you’ve seen from her, and she is extraordinary. Keri Russell starring in The Diplomat from Deb Cahn is an exceptional political character drama”

    I dont get it. Television has never been better.

    I have heard Australians refer to night time soap operas as a 3000 hour multigenerational movie. The term has lost all meaning.

    The pedigree behind this one is quite something, i hope it’s good.

    I’m truly banking on The Diplomat being Netflix’s next big drama, now that Ozark is done and The Crown & Stranger Things are approaching their last seasons.

    They’re really due for another Emmy contender in that category.

    People have been commenting on how the rule change could affect the number of slots The White Lotus takes up in supporting but I think what I’m more excited by is that it could impact who actually gets nominated from the show. Under the unlimited ballot I would have said that Abraham and Imperioli would be the likeliest male nominees from the show because voters could easily name-check them but now I don’t know if I’d say I’m so sure about that.

    I don’t think it will impact the supporting women too much seeing the ones who were in contention were already the ones who had the most buzz (although it could move Fahy ahead of Plaza seeing how much louder the former’s passion has been in recent weeks).

    FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

    I think Fahy, Sharpe and possibly Impacciatore benefit the most under this new change over their co-stars.
