I also felt a little let down by the episode. I liked it, but I wanted it to just be killer, which it wasn’t. There were some great jokes in there, though. I never get tired of the way they insult NBC. Liz, when confronting Jack about tanking the network, “How long has this been going on? Seven, eight years?” Jack: “Six weeks.” Also looking forward to more of bridezilla Jenna. (Another GREAT line, from Jenna: “No, I got them at the dead dove store. Grow up, Liz.”) I had totally forgotten about Hazel, who was easily my biggest complaint about last season but wasn’t so bad here. Looking forward to the rest of the season, though I do wish it were going to be a full season.
ReplyCopy URLI disagree with y’all. Season premieres have never been the show’s strong point, but I thought this episode was better than the others. I dunno…this was just such a wacky episode. My favorite bit was “Homynym” (Au Pair vs. “Oh! Pear!”). I also liked how Liz Lemon growled “NO CAKE?!” when Jenna revealed that her wedding cake would just be foam. Liz Lemon food jokes never get old!
This episode makes me confident that the next 13 episodes will be great.

ReplyCopy URLIn my opinion, I’ve NEVER EVER enjoyed a comedic episode of any series as much as this one. (and I’ve seen Modern Family, Arrested Development, The Office, Parks and Rec etc.). So many possible Emmy submissions: Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan, Catherine O’Hara, Bryan Cranston, James Marsden and Matthew Broderick. As a Swiss I also loved the german quotes, which were so funny and pretty accurate… It was just hilarious, and I’m 100 percent sure Bryan Cranston will get nominated for an Emmy… he was just outstanding, not wasted at all…
ReplyCopy URLAs much as I enjoyed my girl Jane Krakowski’s parts, Tina Fey was clearly the MVP of this episode. The montage in the stationery store was hilarious.
I thought Catherine O’Hara was funnier than Bryan Cranston. Her line to Kenneth: “Remember that kid in school that bullied you? Well, I ate that goat!” was genius.

ReplyCopy URLWhile I did feel like I might have liked a little more from Catherine O’Hara and Bryan Cranston, because I love seeing them do comedy so much, I thought the episode was hilarious. Totally agree that Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan could use this as an Emmy submission, and possibly James Marsden and Bryan Cranston, too. Liz especially was fantastic. I can’t decide which sequence I loved more: Liz color coding the schedule leading into her busting in on Criss and riping his clothes off, or the music video in the stationery ailse. And how very 30 Rock to write Paul Ryan dropping out of the race on the very night of the VP debate. Classic.

All of the elements are there, wacky Liz, Jack being Jack, carzy Jenna, etc., but the jokes are falling flat for me since I have seen these situations done better by them. I do like the meta aspect of last night’s episode w/Tracy being Tina from a few yrs. back w/getting him to be that VP candidate. But again, Tracy is no Tina.
I think they will end this on a good not but it seems I’ll have to slog through it.

However you could see some creative intentions along the way, they just weren’t funny. The Tracy thing with the governor being a parody of Fey/Palin was great, the line about Glen and Sally was awesome.
But having those two as Kenneth’s parents was genius but it didn’t work that great for me, I felt they were wasted.
Not that many funny moments in this episode.

Tina Fey/Sarah Palin. How brilliant. I’m so glad they made it
another 4 years so they could do this epsiode. I loved how ballenced this
episode was. I could have used more connectededness in the plots.“You look like someone’s been slowly
poisoning Sally Field.”

Bryan Cranson and Catherine O’Hara was great but
I could easily use a lot more of them. I loved how much Kenneth hated
Ron. Pushing him on the couch… I loved how Jenna just shot in frame
when she saw a CD.

Vice Pres Debates 🙂I selfishly could use more Cranston and Broderick but I’m glad this show is not letting guest stars derail things like it did back in seasons 3-4. Yes they have talented guest stars but I suppose I should be glad they’re treated like guest stars.
