Debuts with 0.662 million viewers on cable and a 0.15 in the 18-49 demo.

Isolated that seems meh but then I saw KE’s numbers.

Yeah, honestly, for AMC I think this is going to be a big deal. I could be wrong but I feel like they haven’t had much of a hit in a while, so even a small viewership is pretty valuable (I’m not sure how well it did, but the last thing that comes to mind is Kevin Can Fuck Himself, which pretty much ended as soon as it started).

Isolated that seems meh but then I saw KE’s numbers.

Worth mentioning with Killing Eve that figure only represents a quarter of its audience as it also airs on BBC America (where it was garnering up to a million linear at points in its first two seasons) and a lot of its revenue came from streaming.

I think this is a good start for Interview with the Vampire if we’re looking at it within the context of AMC’s recent linear performance. It’s not reaching the heights of Better Call Saul or The Walking Dead’s audience popularity but it’s still gotten a significant share that AMC has been lagging behind of its cable contemporaries (FX, HBO) on outside of their two heavy hitters for the past 5 years. The question now is how much they can grow that audience sample on streaming like they did with Killing Eve and Showtime did with Yellowjackets considering most of the audience lives on streaming nowadays (the latter in particular had an underwhelming linear performance but reached millions on Showtime’s streaming portal). It’s a strong start though regardless considering that, as AdrianDecker has pointed out, the last show they tried to launch outside of the Breaking Bad/The Walking Dead universe didn’t breathe any new life into them.

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

Interesting stats. I’ve been worried about AMC’s future with Walking Dead and Saul both ending, and I’ve appreciated that they’ve been home to some pretty unique and experimental shows (Kevin, Lodge 49, Dispatches from Elsewhere), so I’m really hoping they find a way to grow the audience and this can help them chart a path forward outside of their big IPs.

On another note, I feel like AMC keeps leaning on Walking Dead to prop them up, but have any of the Walking Dead shows been particularly successful? Compared to say, House of the Dragon I feel like all the spinoffs premiere and then vanish, so relying on TWD doesn’t seem to be a viable strategy.

I think they also might be underestimating how many people might drop the franchise once the mainstay ends next month. At a certain point, sometimes people like to close a door, especially when something has been of such variable quality as TWD has been for a while.

I will say tho that it’s hard to measure live ratings with AMC into the equation because they keep releasing stuff early on AMC+ and this probably makes them lose some viewers
I mean, episode 2 is already available illegally (idk if it leaked or they released on AMC+ or whatever).

A bigger fish will eventually come along and acquire AMC, Paramount/CBS reportedly had interest but lacked the resources to make a deal. AMC not owning a few of their biggest properties, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul, likely makes such a deal slightly less attractive, but AMC does have their niche streamers and TWD franchise. Shudder for example, folded into a service like Peacock would have value if most of their subscribers could be retained.

Episode 2 was even better than the 1st.
Unpopular opinion but i think Jacob Anderson is better than Sam Reid sorry.

They keep introducing new, fascinating elements every episode. Claudia is fascinating and brings a great new dynamic to the show. This has really exceeded my expectations, as someone who didn’t really have much interest until positive reviews started coming in

Seven episodes isn’t enough, this should’ve had 10 episodes

    I will always love you
