Is there precedent for a drama to get major Emmys for its final season, after winning absolutely nothing with them the rest of its run? Hasn’t happened this century.

See Friday Night Lights and the Americans.

See Friday Night Lights and the Americans.

    Both had won Emmys previously.

Wow what a hell of a finale. This is how you end a show. This show really surpassed Breaking Bad in its unrelenting brilliance. This somehow managed to have a perfect finale for this amazing show and words cannot begin to say how happy I am but also sad that this is the last episode. It was amazing seeing all those returns from Betsy Brandt who was heartbreaking to michael McKean was was wonderful. For the last seven years we have been on this long twisted amazing ride and not even for one second has it wavered. This show was brilliant through its very first episode to now sadly its last. The writing is TV writing at the top of its game and the directing always used new and unique angles. The performances were some of the best in Television history. Every actor was just utterly brilliant but none more so than Giancarlo Esposito and Rhea Seehorn, who I think are the series MVPs. Esposito was born to play Gus no one could have been as detailed, calculated and amazing as him. He just has such an amazing presence, you cant help but focus just on him when he was onscreen. I was upset after Gus didnt appear in the finale but after thinking about his last moment on the show where we actually get to see him act like a real human and let his guard down, I though it was absolutely beautiful and now i am very happy that that was his last scene. Now onto Seehorn. Can I add anything else to what has already been said, but the sheer talent that she has. The way she portrayed Kim was just so mesmerizing from the first few seasons where she was still a good person but then to see her get more and more into the mud and dirt alongside Jimmy. It was entrancing to watch. She made it feel so bold and Dangerous and I felt alive through her. Seehorn is seriously a one of a kind talent and a lot of the times she acted circles around everyone around her. I cannot wait to rewatch the show just to discover new nuances and small details I missed in her spellbinding performance the first time around, and she better win that Emmy. I am sad that this is the end of this wonderful show but Im so glad that it went out on top, what more could we ask for.

Great ending to a great series. I like that it never tried to be Felina. It reminded me of the homeland ending for some reason. A future for the characters that was unexpected but so perfect.

Now that it’s all said and done, notable guest eligibility

Guest actor: Giancarlo Esposito, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Tony Dalton, Michael McKean

    Guest actress: Besty Brandt

Is Esposito really eligible for guest? I know he has 2 appearances out of 6 episodes but 3/7 didn’t prevent Michael Mando from getting submitted as supporting this year.

I don’t know if I’d pick someone else to be nominated in guest, though. I thought that Brandt was a really nice surprise. I felt bad for her before as she was cut previously. At the same time I’m not sure she delievered in those scenes. I also don’t know why Saul had to face her – was he responsible for Hank and Gomez being murdered?!

So Anna Gunn was only one that didn’t guest on show from main character apart from son. I had hoped that they would get her in some how. But was pleasantly surprised by Betsy appearance

I’ve been thinking about Gunn when Brandt appeared. It must have sucked for her to be the only one omitted, especially that Skyler and Saul were co-conspirators at some point.

It makes sense to me because in the conversation between Gene and Francesca in Episode 6.11, they comment that with Walt dead and Jesse on the run, Saul has now become a top priority for the authorities to be publicly punished for Heisenberg’s crimes.

He is elegible for guest and so was Michael Mando, however AMC can submit Esposito in supporting just like they did with Mando.

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

Funny thing – Esposito’s final 2 episodes alone are the best material he ever got on the series, sometimes to the point of being better than entire seasons for him.

Mando going supporting instead of guest was such a huge blunder on AMC’s part. The category could have easily included him this year. Esposito will probably go supporting, since there are other contenders who can go guest with stronger name recognition, and that’s where he’s been nominated before. Two out of six episodes should force Esposito into guest. With Mando, he was right at the cutoff.

Mixed feelings about the finale but I didn’t hate it. I don’t know if that redemption was earned and if there was no other way to do it than incriminate oneself while testifying. I also refuse to forget all the bad things that ‘noble’ Chuck McGill has done to his brother while he was the only one to support him.

I’m glad the episode was well received but “Waterworks” and the first two episodes were better – as an Emmy voter I’d vote for it instead.

Fortunately Rhea got the material to earn another nod. I was afraid that won’t be the case. Carol Burnett has the same amount of appearances – 4 out of 6. It would be cool to see them both nominated. Esposito and Banks were strong in premiere and follow-up but after that the former was absent and the latter had 2 short scenes so I don’t know. It’d be cool for at least one to return once more. Odenkirk is a no-brainer – he should have won at least once up to this point.

I know the show hasn’t won an Emmy yet (!) but I’m casually optimistic given the amount of press the cast is doing and universal love they receive.

With Cranston and Paul eligible for guest it would be suicide to put Esposito there too, I’m pretty sure he and Banks will stick to supporting.
