Time to start a new and separate comedy guest acting categories thread.
ReplyJune 8, 2020 at 4:44 pm #1203522603Would be ecstatic if Vanessa Bayer gets in for Brooklyn Nine-Nine but it will not happen in this timeline.

June 8, 2020 at 4:49 pm #1203522615Vanessa Bayer should’ve been already be an Guest Emmy winner for her performance in Love. Hoping she gets nommed.
I’m praying for Jane Krakowski winning her overdue Emmy here.
Also I don’t understand why are ScarJo and JLo so high in odds.

SNL has gotten at least two people in Guest Actress every year (they’ve submitted) since 2012. It’s usually comedians/people associated with comedy they’ve managed to get nominated but last year they went for Oh & Thompson so they seem more open to “star names“ now.

Unfortunately, Krakowski doesn’t really have the performance and Curb isn’t really an acting darling.
Also, yeah, Scarlett and JLo aren’t getting nominated, and neither should. Johansson’s episode was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. I can’t remember laughing even once.
ReplyCopy URLJune 8, 2020 at 7:18 pm #1203522755Thompson and Oh actually had memorable sketches. Does anyone even remembers that JLo and ScarJo hosted?
ReplyCopy URLJune 8, 2020 at 7:29 pm #1203522773Jlo has her highly publicized Oscar snub and her Superbowl performance that could work for her to get some sympathy votes for a good year.

Yeah, the Oh episode was not even acclaimed, as it has a 6.4 on IMDb, so there is that propensity now just to check people off for SNL because they like them and less because they were enamoured with their hosting. Johansson and Lopez can certainly cash in on a surplus of goodwill from Oscar season just as Oh cashed in on a surplus of goodwill from Killing Eve and the Golden Globes.
ReplyCopy URLJune 9, 2020 at 11:27 am #1203523777Just interviewed Cristin Milioti and she is going to find out if she can switch to guest! I think that she can get nominated if she does and after her Gold Derby Award nominations for Black Mirror and Fargo, it is safe to say here that she is overdue for an Emmy nomination. Kumail Nanjiani got nominated for fellow episodic anthology The Twilight Zone last year largely off the visibility that he had by leading the first episode of the show, which was not even acclaimed and it did not even get any other nominations. Milioti leads the Modern Love premiere and it helps that her episode is actually really good and arguably the best one.

Anne Hathaway and Catherine Keener should follow her and do the same.
ReplyCopy URLJune 9, 2020 at 11:57 am #1203523863JLo has never been that great of an actor. If the Oscars snubbed her, then she doesn’t stand a chance for SNL. I think Phoebe or ScarJo are the only two females from SNL that stand a chance.

Getting an Emmy nomination is practically as easy as getting a Critics Choice nomination compared to getting an Oscar nomination.

Nice – this would be a good move. Is this part of the conversation going to be part of the video?
ReplyCopy URLJune 9, 2020 at 2:05 pm #1203524121Some of it, but more of it happened after when we were off-air. I kept stumping her with my questions about various things, so it almost could have been awkward, but we had a good time.
ReplyCopy URLJune 10, 2020 at 6:31 pm #1203526865I did it! Her people emailed that she has switched to guest to make sure that this gets mentioned in the article that will publish tomorrow! I have added her to my predictions.
