Can’t remember the last time I gasped at a guest appearance! 😬
ReplyCopy URLApril 12, 2022 at 2:07 pm #1204914638Literally the gasp I let out when that guest performer appeared!
Very good first episode back, Orla was the start of the show for me though with her random comments!

April 12, 2022 at 2:42 pm #1204914655Watching this season premiere reminded me just how much I missed this show. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun watching an episode of television! The guest appearance! Michelle’s buoyant one-liners! That whole joke with the rabbit!

April 13, 2022 at 9:33 am #1204915599It was a welcome return and an okay episode. The girls have obviously aged out and Nicola Coughlan was downright annoying, but the music more than made up for it (I was exactly the age they are in 95-96 but on the other side of the world). The show is at its best when it is of its time and place and has something to say, but episode 1 could have been set anywhere anytime. Looking forward to it picking up in coming weeks.

April 13, 2022 at 11:55 am #1204915724This show is absolutely one of the greats, I gasped at that police officer casting, and howled with laughter at Uncle Colm showing up.
It is such a delight after two years of rewatching the same 12 episodes over and over to have new episodes. Need more Jenny Joyce and her terrible singing in upcoming eps though.

April 27, 2022 at 1:08 am #1204934014Well if Tara Lynne O’Neill and/or Kathy Kiera Clarke are to get their recognition this year, these most recent two episodes are perfect episodes to showcase their talents.
I like how this final series is giving more time to the adults in the show. Also another great guest star – without it feeling shoehorned or like a cameo. Great actors being given great material in the show.

ReplyCopy URLApril 27, 2022 at 1:07 pm #1204934735Yep, the storyline with none of the adults recognising the woman while playing GUESS WHO? was a stroke of absolute genius. Then the way it linked into the young cast’s storyline. This final season is doing everything right.

April 29, 2022 at 10:17 am #1204937092Channel 4 has announced an additional, extended length episode of Derry Girls.
The special will broadcast later in the same week as the Series 3 finale, scheduled to air on 17th May at 9pm.
Titled The Agreement, it picks up a year on from the end of Series 3 proper and focuses around the Good Friday Agreement referendum, which brought widespread peace and stability to Northern Ireland after decades of bloodshed.
