in his weekly column, thr writer says that the lack of a fixed ballot amount is one of the main problems with the Emmy’s voting system. Do you agree with him? Do you think the process should be changed? What would you put in place?

The idea that the categories are too small makes little sense to me. Having 5-8 nominees in a category is perfectly fine (even if only having 5 is a little disappointing). It probably would be better though if the people who voted actually had to watch more than a few shows.

They should go back to placing restrictions on the amount of performers a voter can check off. There were so many robbed performances on the limited side this year due to lazy Hamilton checking off.

FYC: Better Call Saul and The Good Fight in all categories including Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.

In some ways I would just like consistency everywhere. I agree that for almost every category, five is too little.

As much as I love the Ted Lasso guys, I am far more uneasy with four supporting actor noms in one category for relatively low profile actors in Season 1 of a show that is still on a growing service than four for GoT in one of the biggest TV seasons in living memory.  That could easily become the whole category and I think ideally that’s to be avoided. It’s also very likely counterproductive for a win anyway.

If they don’t want to do this then they should at least extend everything to eight.

Supporting categories are just becoming ensemble for shows and something needs to be done about it lol, no matter how they deserve it
The Handmaids Tale, Barry, Maisel, Ted Lasso, Saturday Night Live, Hamilton, even Succession and The Crown who are undeniable

They need to start watching new things ASAP or put like a limit on certain actors from a show.

I’d be ok with every category having 7 nominees. That seems like it would be a reasonable number.

The unlimited ballot needs to end. Bring back the panels (but not with those ridiculous pre-Emmy submissions as they used to have in 2006)!

It's about the chaotic editing in Moulin Rouge!

This may sound unpopular but I think all live performance (live sketch shows, taped plays) should have their own category AND nominees. It’s fine. Support that sort of performance. But keep scripted comedy / limited series / drama its’ own thing with its’ own actors.

    I think they

-need to make clearer boundaries between guest/supporting/lead.

-need to start being more hardline on limited, drama, and comedy categorisations.

-institute a limit on submissions from each show (if people want to self submit on top of that, fine).

-quit with the dumb anti-American production rule. Let things like I Hate Suzie compete. Similarly, require all submissions to have had distribution in both the US and the UK (ie Hacks) to prevent even less pools for one show.

Speaking of guest, I’d be ok with the idea of just flat out banning any performance with less than 5 minutes of screen time from being on the ballot. It would be an easy enough rule to implement, but it would stop nominations like Foy’s and Cheadle’s (Cheadle didn’t even want a nomination for this lol) from happening.

I know it’s limited (and that’s another issue) but to me someone like Isla Johnston or Bill Camp is guest, not Cheadle. That’s a cameo.

The Variety columnist advocates having 10 slots in drama series and comedy series. Do you agree with him? My opinion is that, particularly this year, it would help bad and popular shows, like it did with Emily in Paris. 💀
