Charles Dance can be perfectly snubbed like he was constantly for GoT, his role was the most boring part in season 3, especially the complot storyline, I do not understand your certainty about him, he is very far from the level of acting that Matthew Goode did on the show and he has been their only nomination in that category.
ReplyCopy URLJune 16, 2020 at 5:09 pm #1203537329Dance is a respected veteran who’s been nominated several times, he’s on a show that’s already done better with actors than Game of Thrones, and he has both the performance and a whole episode revolving around him. Just because he couldn’t get in for Game of Thrones doesn’t mean that he’ll miss here.
ReplyCopy URLJune 16, 2020 at 5:37 pm #1203537392He has been nominated just once in 2006, a time in which it was easy to get nominations for random miniseries that no one watched or remembered after. He has two other noms as narrator that are very irrelevant. I am not saying he is going to miss, I just do not understand the certainty behind him that most of you have showed.

Me too!! And I realized I already saw her in many her works.
Her Piaf was really great, and her performances as Princess Kuragin in Downton Abbey and as Queen Mary in Lady Jane were extraordinary.
I hope she will win!!

July 1, 2020 at 8:09 am #1203560632What do people think of Dean Norris’ chances at a guest nod?
I don’t have him getting in, but I wonder if some voters may try to finally push for him to get in after his Breaking Bad snubs.
Norris’ role was fairly small and not even close to being as showy as his previous work, but that didn’t stop McKean last year, so I wonder if we’re underestimating him.
I will acknowledge though, the McKean comparison isn’t completely valid, as Norris’ snubs were several years ago, while McKean’s were more recent, and the latter benefited from an emptier category and material with more substance than the former’s.

I agree with this.

July 2, 2020 at 11:58 am #1203563499Evgenia Dodina is submitted for Killing Eve (she played Villanelle’s mother).
Don’t think it’ll happen but it’ll be glorious (& miraculous) if she does.

July 20, 2020 at 7:48 am #1203593042I really don’t think The Crown is going to get 4 guest acting nominations.

It’s not.

It very well could. It won SAG ensemble, has already won two acting Emmys and has four other acting noms already. At the moment both The Crown and Ozark are the safest bets for acting nominations.

I’m a huge fan of The Crown but I also have to agree that 4 guest nominations are way delusional. Fennell is not getting nominated in such a stacked category, not to mention she’s not even backed by Netflix. Lewis Jones could happen, since that category is very up in the air, but I still think he’s a long shot. I have a feeling voters might just go with people they already know just to fill the empty slots.

That’s a good point about Fennell (I mistakingly thought she was backed by Netflix).
I do think Lewis Jones can happen though.
To be honest I feel strangely confident in a line up of Bledel, Jones, Jones, Lapotaire and Tyson. The last slot has me torn between Rashad, Morisson, Dretzin and Walter. I guess I’ll go back to Rashad on Monday.
