The Hollywood Reporter has Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris in Supporting, have they finally changed categories ? https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/lists/feinberg-forecast-2020-emmy-predictions-1281061/item/best-drama-series-1281062?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&__twitter_impression=true

It’s interesting with Jeffrey Wright because switching categories every season like this is usually reserved for actors who aren’t nominated and trying to break through, but Wright keeps switching and has success. I might even predict him in Supporting now.

THR is also notoriously wrong with its info in those forecast posts.

That said, no way Harris and Wright go lead this year – they both had reduced roles. I am still going to slot Harris into supporting though as soon as he moves there in the prediction center. Westworld is once again being underestimated on the forums.

Aside from the status of The Crown versus the perceived status of Westworld, is there any real evidence of O’Connor being ahead of Wright and Harris presuming they go supporting? Both are Emmy nominees for these roles (Wright nominated twice despite moving from supporting to lead) while O’Connor couldn’t muster a Critics Choice nomination in a weak category. I might be discounting the SAG ensemble win, but the lack of individual recognition for O’Connor is concerning.

FYC: Station Eleven in all categories

The same thing can be said about Culkin. No real evidence he might be ahead of Westworld actors if they do go supporting.

I’d take that advice if it came from someone who actually made Supporting Actor and Actress predictions. And also Billy Porter and Sterling K Brown are not ahead of Tobias Menzies, Brian Cox, Bob Odenkirk and Jason Bateman.

But… he is, as is Milo Ventimiglia probably.

I think O’Connor has a better chance of getting in because at least we know they’re watching The Crown I don’t understand why Culkin is in 3rd with over 100 people predicting him to win including some experts.

And why is Macfayden ahead of Mandy Patinkin, Giancarlo Esposito, Joseph Fiennes and so many more…

Lol everyone in these forums says to never discount a past nominee, but when it’s someone from The Handmaid’s Tale that doesn’t apply of course. No surprise there.

Yeah but most people don’t really care about the show anymore, and Wright and Harris were widely seen as being underutilized this year, so I don’t see either of them making it.

Yet people discuss tapes for everyone else. I agree with you, but then let’s apply that to everyone. And it’d be a shame if we did because discussing their episode submissions is always one of my best aspects IMO.

Yes, I agree. I think Linney was terrific and deserves the win. I would vote for her.
But under the old tape system I’d say Viola would take it. We know from those 3 Spader wins that they used to love speeches. Annalise’s closing arguments had me on the edge of my seat last night. So powerful. Viola was magnificent in the finale.

Relax Phi Phi, relax. I just saying that I prefer to believe he will be snubbed because he don’t deserve any nomination for The Handmaid’s Tale.

I wouldn’t be surprised because the academy is so lazy sometimes.

Culkin over Wright makes sense to me, seeing as Succession is on an upward trajectory and Westworld is the opposite. Wright also just had his worst season, plus Westworld missed SAG to BCS and the Americans so I have no reason to believe actors like it anymore.

I could be wrong, but the prediction is not unreasonable.
