I blame the writers honestly. They had the opportunity to work with one of the best actresses currently working and they gave her so little material.I understand that Princess Diana and Thatcher were important people of that time period but it’s no excuse for sidelining the main character so horribly

And they will do the same with s5 you can bet

I disagree with this. Whilst I will grant that the writing peaked in season 2 and Colman has never had quite as good material, for me it is not this that makes her worse than Foy. If anything, I would say that Colman has still been able to triumph frequently with the baity material she has been given such as the end of “Aberfan” or the confrontation in “Fagan”.

But where she stumbles (and, forgive me, for sounding so repetitive because I know I’ve said it a million times) is in the fact that whenever the focus isn’t on her, when she just has to be going about her daily life, she just isn’t the Queen. Not only is she far too goofy and frenetic but also, as someone astutely said the other day, she lacks gravity and presence. When Foy was in a scene it would feel like everything else was in orbit around her. Colman is just there. I’d also say this emphasises why the whole “she didn’t get enough material” argument falls flat for me because right opposite Colman were performances like that of Menzies, Doherty and Bonham Carter who never quite got the material they deserved either yet still managed to sparkle opposite any scene partner.

It’s funny cause I always felt like they sparkled because of their material😀

If we’re already discussing lead actress, why not name our personal winners there as well?

    2015 — Viola Davis
    2016 — Viola Davis
    2017 — Elisabeth Moss
2018 — Elisabeth Moss (Strong RU: Claire Foy & Viola Davis)
2019 — Jodie Comer (RU: Viola Davis & Emilia Clarke)
2020 — Viola Davis & Laura Linney (RU: Nicole Kidman)
2021 — Elisabeth Moss (RU: Emma Corrin)

    I’m boring, I know.

Doherty who never quite got the material they deserved

They literally skipped the kidnapping attempt of Princess Anne which can be a very baity tape for her. I doubt Doherty could join the lineup, O’Connor couldn’t with Tywysog Cymru, but it would add the complexity of the season, and might replace a filler episode instead.

"The Lost Daughter" in every eligible category - Film
"Succession" Season 3 in every eligible category - TV
"Heaux Tales" by Jasmine Sullivan in every eligible category - Music

I’m honestly gutted that they never covered it. Doherty stole every scene and would have torn apart and episode to herself.

I swear to God, Olivia Colman has quite something like close to the stronger episodes of the whole series to her (Aberfan, Fagan), but she didn’t convinced me not nearly as Foy did.

I think I have watched Fagan like a thousand times, is soooo good.
    Tom Brooke was robbed.

Why would you want to give an award to the performance equivalent of a piece of wood?
