For All Mankind = The Expanse
It will generate a lot of buzz and praise in internet, but I doubt the Academy cares enough to give it a nomination.
April 23, 2021 at 9:03 am #1204217081The only supporting actress I liked from Bridgerton is Claudia Jessie, though I don’t think she will be nominated.
April 23, 2021 at 9:33 am #1204217155Everyone having a different “favorite” among Bridgerton supporting actresses and no clear standout is the reason why I believe it can be shut out in the category.
However, in supporting actor, the choice is clearly Jonathan Bailey.

Might not be as safe as we thought and Moss can miss again.

I’ve seen a couple of positive reviews at least.

Eh I disagree. The buzz for the supporting actress has largely centred around Andoh and Coughlan. If the Emmys were up to us Bridgerton would be receiving zero above the line Emmy nominations (as it should!)
Bailey’s problem more is the role rather than the performance. I personally wouldn’t nominate of them but whilst Bailey does give the best performance (along with Andoh), it feels like he’s playing the same privileged white boy character that Matt Czuchry and Michael Zeagan and Vincent Kartheiser played. Only his character in the first season of his show isn’t as insufferable as either of there’s (that’s not me giving commentary performance wise).
The weaker field could help but I wouldn’t be surprised if Bailey is in that 6th to 10th place position during voting and ends up just about missing.
FYC: Better Call Saul, The English and The Good Fight in all categories including Emily Blunt, Bob Odenkirk, Christine Baranski and Rhea Seehorn.
April 23, 2021 at 1:42 pm #1204217730I’m just hoping the Emmys pull an HFPA and completely ignore Bridgerton.
At this point we just got to accept it
This show only got snubbed by the HFPA and that organization only did that cause of, we all know it now, the black lead. With this empty field and Bridgerton hitting basically all guilds + AFI, it’s easily top 3 for now.

A Negroni. Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.
April 23, 2021 at 1:47 pm #1204217737Lol, if this continues i will easily take out Elizabeth Moss. I said sometime ago that she could miss even if the season was strong, if it’s weak, i don’t see her returning.

AFI alone should be enough to at least got a nom somewhere, the last non-CW show (obvious bias) to make AFI and completely miss Primetime Emmys (or Guest Acting) was The Walking Dead in 2011.

And people really thought Ann Dowd and Yvonne Strahovski would be getting back in again lol.

April 23, 2021 at 2:02 pm #1204217760The torture porn criticism (which it always had, but seems even more present this time) particularly makes me question its chances considering people are definitely looking for lighter programs nowadays.
