    Samba

Obviously more popular shows helped, but I feel like the Emmys have gathered a loyal niche throughout the years unlike Oscars, GG or Grammys that are more dependent on buzz, hence why their rise or fall between the years are much bigger.

I’m weirdly interested to see how the voters treat the (main) cast when they’re not in GoT.

I believe there will be some residual love, just as there was residual love for Falco after The Sopranos, Moss after Mad Men and for Cranston after Breaking Bad.

I realized that there are still a few final thoughts I have:

    — First and foremost, I missed in-person awards shows. The absence thereof up until April was unequivocally necessary, but I am just so happy they’re back. The standing ovations for Jean Smart, Michaela Coel and Kate Winslet were everything I didn’t know I needed. I have found myself rewatching so many speeches, which I didn’t do last year, to be honest.

    — On that note, while they didn’t produce a flawless ceremony, the Emmy producers proved once more that they can deliver. This was a million times better than the Oscars, which, the main problems aside, was so poorly lit and structured. I would not mind if the Emmys kept this setting and never switched back to the old comedy-limited-drama chronology. Mixing up the categories was the smartest decision they made.

    — Some of the speeches were just absolutely amazing. Jean Smart, Kate Winslet, Olivia Colman and especially Michaela Coel really stand out. Again, that’s why in-person awards shows rule.

    — I don’t think anyone should get praised for being gracious, because that’s just the proper thing to be, but Kaley Cuoco was such a sport on Sunday (among many, many others, ofc). She cheered pretty for each and every person who got on that stage even though TFA did not win anything. And speaking of TFA, I was sad to see it go home empty-handed, but Kaley & the entire creative team should be proud of putting together such a brilliant, fun show.

    — Sarah Paulson jumping up and down for Evan Peters and Julianne Nicholson was everything.

    — Jennifer Coolidge should present at every awards show. I cannot wait to see her get nominated everywhere for The White Lotus.

Even Olsen and Hahn were great sports. So was Ingram.

I cackled when she praised the comedy actor nominees for “overcoming the hurdle in comedy of being men” lmfao.

Talking of Ingram, lol Anya didn’t even stand up when Smart won. I don’t mean to sound extra-critical but I believe when people of such legendary status win,all stand. I mean,ALL.

I just re-watched the clip and I didn’t see her “not standing up” when Smart won (although in fairness they didn’t even cut to Taylor-Joy in the video). She stood up for Coel and Winslet (they did cut to her doing so in the telecast though) so it would be weird for her not to have stood up for Smart.

Watch from 2:07 to 2:11 on the left of the stage (you can easily spot Anya in that orange dress).
