She truly deserved the Emmy and I really really hope this marks the beginning of a Career resurgence for her.

    Yes.

The fact that she refused to do the makeup shit all were so brave.

    No.

She has achieved in Mare something that has changed culture in Hollywood.

    Honey?

For an Oscar winning veteran actress to not have make-up,ask not to edit her weight, take a risk with allowing aging lines, it is brave. This will inspire more actresses to do the same.

Girl, good for her but how that changes the culture in Hollywood 💀
It’s not that hard to find Oscar winning veteran actress who do the same. Just look at Frances McDormand in basically everything.

It’s an encouraging move on her part to use her privilege to make these demands that other actresses may otherwise not be able to. But describing it as “brave” or using at as a reasoning for why her performance is excellent or why she won just undermines the excellent characterisation Winslet put into Mare.

Kate Winslet was committed to playing Mare authentically. Mare could not give a fuck about getting glammed up — at least not when we meet her. It’s not much more than that. She did not change the culture of Hollywood by doing so. The fact that people have made such a fuss about Kate being de-glammed in Mare does say a lot about the state of female roles — or rather the perception thereof — in Hollywood though.

    I absolutely agree with this!
