I have It’s a Sin in my 5th slot because it screams Unorthodox.

    How so?

Im guessing they consider it to be an European production that seemed to be too much of a dark horse originally but could ultimately explode

    Interesting.

I feel like if It’s a Sin does happen over The Underground Railroad it would be more like Patrick Melrose getting in over Twin Peaks than Unorthodox getting nominated last year. Unorthodox was a massive hit and had both mainstream and snob appeal which isn’t necessarily the case with It’s a Sin which like Patrick Melrose is a British-American co-production that amalgamates a dark subject matter with lighter tones, does have some industry visibility and passion but ultimately didn’t perform as well with audiences in the US as it did in the UK (It’s a Sin obviously was a far bigger hit in the UK though than Patrick Melrose was).

I had to add Thomas Brodie-Sangster because nothing makes sense to me on that category
Lowkey wanting to replace Daveed Diggs with Paapa Essiedu as well.

Does anyone else not see John Boyega winning?

There’s always the possibility of him losing but who’s even there? Camp has a SAG nom but isn’t he only in the first episode? I honestly don’t see anyone else winning atm.

I think he *can* win but I agree he definitely feels like someone GoldDerby has decided is winning than actually is.

He feels like a frontrunner by default, but if not him, who? Bill Camp could win if they go full on The Queen’s Gambit and would probably be more like a career award.

I don’t see anyone with passion to win in this category, so it will probably be between the two of them

Although the Rebel Ridge controversy has put his frontrunner status into some doubt, Boyega still has a lot of things going for him. It’s a baity role and a loud performance in an acclaimed show. He has been recognised by the majority of the precursors, in lead (CC win, BAFTA nomination) as well as supporting (Globes win). He’s quite a big name in the industry now. His competition is weak.

Camp could potentially coattail to a win – as Murray did for Olive Kitteridge – but we should wait to see how big The Queen’s Gambit is with actors. Only Regina stood in the way of a complete Olive acting sweep.

FYC: Station Eleven in all categories
