not sure how serious you’re being, but while Erivo is liked by the television academy, she’s not beloved like Regina King is.

I mean, I have her 5th, but I don’t think King and Erivo are comparable; not only is Erivo 16 years younger, she was primarily a stage actress and singer up until, like, 3 years ago.

Also, King took a LOT of time to start getting recognition (30 years in TV before her first Emmy nod and 28 in film before her first Oscar nod), while Erivo, despite being a relative newcomer, already is a 2-time Oscar nominee, Daytime Emmy winner, and Emmy nominee.

    Impossachievable

When Cynthia Erivo does a Regina King in Seven Seconds and wins due to the lack of a frontrunner…

    Hmm

Putting aside that Cynthia Erivo is not Regina King, all of Erivo’s competitors this year are stronger than King’s main one that year.

I do not think the Cynthia Erivo comment was meant seriously. 💀

Probably not but the streets still responded for the kiis and because I narcissistically think I’m too funny.

Limited Series: I May Destroy You

Lead Actress: Kate Winslet, Mare of Easttown

    Lead Actor: Paul Bettany, WandaVision

    Supporting Actress: Kathryn Hahn, WandaVision

    Supporting Actor: Daveed Diggs, Hamilton

    Directing: The Queen’s Gambit

    Writing: I May Destroy You

Honestly, I don’t see how IMDY loses Series–but likewise, I don’t see it winning much else besides Writing, unless it totally sweeps.

How…? I mean we all love it very dearly, some even stan it, but how can you be this confident about its triumph? It is continuously respected, and might have a kind of buzz which I’m not really sure of. However, The Queen’s Gambit and Mare of Easttown are not something to be underestimated. I May Destroy You is still a dark horse here, and I can’t see it getting the top prize without Coel in Actress.

If IMDY only won writing, I doubt it would win series with just those nine noms. Kinda nonsensical.

I am starting to get convinced Series and Actress will likely go hand in hand (especially for TQG and MOE).

This is what happened this past decade… except when Downtown Abbey won limited series and Kate Winslet took actress for Mildred Piece.

Happened with Frances McFormand, Sarah Paulson, Regina King (Watchmen), Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman only no?

Then we had Candelabra/Laura Linney, Fargo/Jessica Lange, Versace/Regina King and Chernobyl/Michelle Williams.

That was under a different system though.

Well none of those had a lead actress competing.

Yes but it would be pretty funny if it happens once again with TQG basically sweeping but Kate Winslet blocking the lead actress.

And Candelabra didn’t even have a female acting nominee 💀💀💀.
