All things Succession, Severance, Ted Lasso, The Great and The White Lotus! Also, Colin Firth and Janelle James while you're at it.
June 16, 2022 at 11:51 am #1204986595Does the fact that some series submit even very minor roles as nominees in the supporting actor/actress category reduce the chances of “real” supporting actors? In other words, does this situation arouse a prejudice in the members of the academy against the whole series?
I think teams don’t want another scenario of self-submissions getting in because they’ve misjudged who is preferred, hence they’re submitting everyone (though campaigning more selectively), not to mention I suspect there might have been an uptick in self-submissions. HBO for instance would never have submitted six early career-actresses for a single drama series (aka Euphoria) a few years ago.
(I do think they’ve all gone a bit overboard, though).

I just saw this and I’m STUNNED. Maybe she didn’t want to put her name forward although I’m sure she’s been doing quite a bit of press?

Am I the only one who’s able to see these? I opened them and I can read the submissions.

It seems inexplicable to me because she has one of the biggest names of the supporting cast, and it’s not like the show didn’t submit others to try to push one candidate. Really baffling to me!
