    Hacks is being underestimated

I can see it being this year’s Schitt’s Creek (the 1 show that sweeps all it’s categories)

It’s not winning Supporting Actor come what may.

Both Leads of The Great chance for noms is dead, isn’t it?

    Far from it.

No one in Actress besides Smart (and probably Brunson) is a lock, but at this point I’d be pretty surprised if Elle Fanning wasn’t nominated. If hitting all the major precursors (plus TCA for s1) wasn’t enough, you’d have to go back a LONG time to find a Comedy SAG Ensemble nominee that didn’t get at least one “main category” (aka outside of guest) acting nod at the Emmys, and The Great has been nominated twice now. The actors needed a second to catch up with The Great, but now they have, and I’d be shocked if she missed.

Not at all. I’m personally predicting Fanning and I believe a few others here are, as well.

I think that at least one of The Great leads will get in for similar reasons to what Heptapod mentioned above. Whilst I’d be surprised if they were any higher than 4th/5th in their categories, I think both leads have the best of both worlds in the sense that the show isn’t new (and so there’s a chance that voters will be watching it with season 1 also in mind when they’re voting considering this is the first time it’s been on the ballot since it broke through at SAG last year) but it also isn’t out of the conversation and is still visible enough to be getting guild nominations.

Most of the other contenders in the comedy actress category for example only have one or the other.

In predicting Fanning and Hoult has been in and out of my predictions and I forgot where I last had him even though I might even like his performance slightly more.

If the actors have indeed embraced The Great and both Fanning and Hoult get in, I wouldn’t be shocked if Belinda Bromilow showed up as a surprise nominee.

I can see The Great performing this year something like what The Morning show did for season 1: both leads nominated but no series nomination. It’s also nothing too rare: Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, they did it few years ago too.

(I know it’s a very different scenario, but my point here is that leads getting in without a series nomination is not rare)

Yeah I concur that The Great or one or both of their leads getting in is still very realistic.

(if they miss this year then there’s some kind of SAG/Emmy disconnect. But let’s wait and see)

Brunson is far from what you’d call a lock.
