Still not sure where Moon Knight stuff goes but I guess in here for now?

WILL MOON KNIGHT FINALLY get his moment in the sun? It sure appears that way.

The Marvel Comics hero has always had a cult following since his initial debut as a villain in Werewolf by Night No. 32 in 1975, even as the publisher tried to navigate how best to tell stories featuring a hero with dissociative identity disorder over the decades and many series.

But now Marvel’s upcoming series starring Oscar Isaac is throwing the shadowy hero into the open, and viewer numbers for the first trailer, released this week during Monday’s NFL wild card game, show an intense audience interest in the character.

According to studio insiders, in the first 24 hours, the trailer generated just over 75 million views — 52 million online, 23 million from the broadcast — landing in the top tier compared to other Marvel shows. It scored higher numbers than Loki (60 million) and WandaVision (52 million), being bested only by Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which was viewed 125 million times but had the benefit of debuting during the Super Bowl broadcast. Hawkeye’s first trailer was viewed 41.5 million times in its first 24 hours.

Social engagement was the highest of any Marvel series so far, with 263,000 mentions, beating the first content release for WandaVision (241,000) and Winter Soldier (218,000), and even The Mandalorian (221,000).

The trailer suggests something unlike any other Marvel show and anecdotally, one exec at a rival studio called us up and said, “I couldn’t tell if this was a movie or a TV show, that’s how good it looks.”

    From THR.

And apparently the MK trailer is the first Marvel D+ show trailer to hit a million likes?

Following on from the previous thread, Stranger Things isn’t happening. Why would they release active marketing saying Spring and release it so close to Ozark?

Ozark isn’t getting snubbed for writing after getting 3 nominations in 2020 💀

Whilst I do currently have The Morning Show in my series predictions, I’m not convinced that it’s safe for that nomination even if it does hit both PGA and DGA. Sure it hit both WGA and SAG but that feels like more of an indictment of the weakness of the field and the show’s visibility rather than growing industry love. After all Steve Carell missed in a SAG field that was not that different in competitiveness from the one he competed in for the previous season.

By the time we get to June the season will have aired almost an entire year ago and if both Yellowjackets and Loki turn up at DGA and PGA, it is going t be 5th at best in the series race. Throw in The White Lotus potentially moving to drama and then it falls down to 7th. Killing Eve and Better Call Saul (which both got in over it last time round) will be airing final (or in BCS’ case half of one) seasons close to voting, Bridgerton will be returning in March after breaking into acting, directing and BTL lineups and Yellowstone seems to be continuing to build momentum with the industry catching up on it and it breaking into guilds like SAG. If both The Gilded Age and Winning Time end up being audience hits they could also end up being ahead of it in series.

Crudup will get nominated again (and might even win) and Aniston will probably get in again as well but the series race just feels like it’s already getting quite crowded and might even more so later on in the season for The Morning Show to crack the lineup for a September release that doesn’t have lots of momentum.

    FYC:

"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

    My predictions

    • Yellowstone is getting at least one ATL nom.
    • One of the older programs or perpetual nominees is getting shafted unceremoniously.
    • No one but Succession is gettimg more than 3 acting nominations.
    • One genre program is definitely getting in somewhere.
    • Severance isn’t happening. Apple are too infatuated with The Morning Show.
