Severance being #2 on IMDB is really good for an Apple show. I think maybe only Ted Lasso has shown up that high. Interesting to see if it makes the Nielsen top 10 because at that point they normally correlate.

Based on this data I am feeling a lot better about going all in on Severance. It was the 2nd most streamed show only behind Euphoria for Q1 and it doesn’t even include the airing of the finale (unless they include it retroactively somehow which I found no confirmation of). People who felt finding an audience was going to be a hurdle are categorically wrong about that at this point.

    (Non-drama related but w/e)

Another thing that also surprised me is how many people are watching Inventing Anna but then again maybe it shouldn’t since a ton of people watched Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and those shows were just as bad in a lot of ways. So maybe I should put Garner in my predictions after all.

Upload is also surprisingly high at #17. Higher than Bridgerton, Ozark, and Yellowstone. I didn’t hate it. Maybe we’re all sleeping on it? I imagine the reviews were middling at best, though.

Lack of popularity was never Upload‘s awards hurdle.

I had no idea it was popular at all. It’s not terrible. Worse has been nominated.

It’s actually higher than Ted Lasso season 1 ever was (season 2 however did reach number one on IMDB.

Severance is the show everyone loves… if they get through it. Common refrain is that it’s “slow” but then again it didn’t stop Succession. Methinks it won’t stop it from bringing in a haul but maybe, like the latter, it doesn’t rake in wins until it proves itself with a just-as-good season two.

Simply saying that while the people that love it LOVE IT, it feels like there are just as many who can’t get into it with so much else to watch.
