Wolfali, do you think they’ll swing that far away from Brits compared to this year?

This is where I can’t help but think Hiddleston gets in or Bridgerton overperforms or something.

The year was weak enough for something like Euphoria to make gains but the only new category it broke through in was panel based. S1 aired even earlier than the specials with significantly less awards buzz or chatter in a stronger year. This time, the show was heading into the ceremony with a far stronger guild performance as well (WGA, ACE, ADG etc).

The number of different branches nominating This is Us has always been low, even at its peak. It is still more broadly liked and will be an easy default choice for voters, something that manifests itself more often than we anticipate. I think I have it just on the verge of getting in atm.

HBO already has stuff like Succession and The Gilded Age, which will always be bigger priorities for them so a Euphoria breakthrough in series seems unlikely to me if the year doesn’t thin out more.

The specials still got three nominations in spite of being specials that aired months and months before voting began and were ineligible in significant categories.

This time round a full season is airing and close to voting.

The same categories the show got nominated for the first season, except for Cinematography.

It was ignored in Directing and Writing. This forum spent months overestimating it.

I think Euphoria is too thin-slice of the voter body to get in for most years. Everything I can see would suggest it’s mostly watched (in a natural, non “I must watch these screeners”) fashion by under 25s

I would guess the vast proportion of voters are well over that, though that might be easier with the acting branches. It does deserve the BTL noms it has in my opinion. I think Zendaya is different because she has somewhat broader appeal because of her movie career.

I think it would really have to hit a year where all the other nominated shows skew old and just about everyone in that age group defaults to it. I don’t see that in a year with Bridgerton and Killing Eve grabbing a lot of the young female vote, The Boys getting a good portion of the younger male vote and Stranger Things getting a bit of both. If both Stranger Things and Bridgerton miss and KE has an average season – perhaps.

It deserves the nominations it’s had, though.

If I were voting at this stage (which I am not, and that’s probably a good thing, and it’s also too early to make a judgement call), I’d want Crudup, Aniston, and Margulies nominated and would not nominate TMS for show.

The Morning Show S2 looks set for an almost identical run to S1.
3-4 Acting noms,a directing nom but not a series nom.

This field actually is too boring and milquetoast. Something or someone will come and mix it up. Re: The Boys, I think it gets Starr in or it falls out entirely.

Better Call Saul, Ozark, Killing Eve and This Is Us all end after this season. There will be plenty of new stuff next season when they need to fill all these holes. Also most of the predicted shows are great so imagine complaining about this lineup…

FYC: Lead Actress - Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza)

Oh the shows are great but there seems so little room so it feels quite repetitive.

I hope NBC pushes This Is Us hard next year. The final season will prob deliver and the field will be relatively empty. Mandy Moore ad Milo Ventimiglia should be able to get back in (hopefully). And ideally, Justin Hartley and Susan Kelechi Watson would get their due too.

    Justin Hartley

No way 🙁 The Emmys have made it a point to go on nominating Chris Sullivan and ignore Justin Hartley.
