VERY interestingly Netflix have a Foreign Language Series category on their site.

I wonder if something is being added, or this is for International Emmys?

The close to complete lack of Julia Garner in both teasers for Ozark is a choice.

I wonder if she has less to do and they’re focusing on Inventing Anna?

I’m not looking into it too much. They did have a cliffhanger and they’re using both teasers to tease the resolution of that.

Ah, so according to their site it looks like Netflix is marketing Squid Game as a drama and not as a limited series. I was wondering about it.

The FYC page from Netflix is up.
They are pushing for Squid Game, Lupin and Cowboy Bebop. 2 international shows, which is curious.

FYC TV: genera+ion | The Other Two | Starstruck | Schmigadoon! | Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Mr. Colman |

New Globes category that we don’t know about?

Cowboy Bebop being there is interesting. It’s got everything going in it’s favour to be great quality wise but it’s a genre show and they rarely do well unless it’s both a big audience hit and the network’s main push (e.g. Lost, Thrones, AHS, Stranger Things, Mandalorian, Boys).

Although I’m probably just overthinking it and it’s just a placeholder for Ozark.

    Oscars FYC:

    "CODA" – in all categories

"Everybody's Talking About Jamie" – Sup. Actor (Richard E. Grant), Sup. Actress (Sarah Lancashire) and Original Song (“This Was Me”)

"King Richard" – Original Song (“Be Alive”)

"Summer of Soul" – Picture, Film Editing and Documentary Feature

“The Green Knight” – in all categories

I actually just realised what I think they might be able to do SAG wise.

Both Oh and John Cho are of South Korean heritage and quite publicly invested in discussing opportunities there.

There’s a great narrative/campaign focus on Asian stories there if you put them 1 and 2 as comedy/drama leads and focus ensemble on Squid Game. This probably helps Oh more than anyone.

As much as Squid Game is great I think the Parasite comparisons (ie SAG Ensemble win with no individual noms) are apt here. It’s very much a heavy ensemble and I also think it’s a tall order to expect the ensemble to campaign on short notice via interpreters completely unplanned.

As for Cowboy Bebop, I think there’s a good chance given their confidence it’s an audience hit. I mean the original anime is about travelling bounty hunters so the Mandalorian comparisons are obvious. I also suspect it’s pretty strong stunt wise which would also make sense re SAG.

(As for Ozark yep I absolutely think that’s their post-SAG priority)
