Does anyone feel like AMC haven’t really been doing that much promo for Killing Eve? Perhaps we’ll see more quite soon but it does feel rather quiet for a show that took two years off and is premiering its final season next month…
Yeah, but it’s not just Killing Eve. AMC feel fringe generally.
Promo this year is weird not just for them. I don’t think shows are used to not working on their standard “our show debuts in March/April/May” schedule.January 19, 2022 at 3:37 pm #1204739085
It feels so weird and anti HBO right? The show was first ordered to NBC so i guess it’s a step up ? We’ll see
It seems out of line with their current programming, as I saw someone on Twitter say, it’s odd to have Euphoria one night and The Gilded Age the next.January 19, 2022 at 9:03 pm #1204739451

There are a couple of YouTube and other reviews coming through for The Gilded Age, but the one with no paywall is Time’s which is here
Am sure they’ll be some more in the next few hours to assess it more.
This review seems fair, it’s mostly saying it’s a decent show but hasn’t really updated Fellowes format from Downton, which I think some of us expected.
YouTube review I watched said it was fun to watch but again very Downton, and Baranski was great.

Some reviews are coming in.
"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")January 20, 2022 at 5:18 am #1204739848
Carrie is getting great notices! The initial reactions are honestly a lot better than I expected (my expectations were admittedly low).

More reviews from Rolling Stone (3 stars), Collider (B+) and TVLine (C-):January 20, 2022 at 6:41 am #1204739979
Standout notices for Baranski and Coon from Indiewire (B).

The series itself seems weaker than the acting.
Yeah from what I can tell the consensus seems to be that it’s a show that people either like or feel apathy towards but the actors are getting really strong standout notices across the board.
It will be interesting to see where it lands on Metacritic.

I actually think that if the show isn’t a big contender,it might sink the actors along with it. I can’t see Coon/Baranski winning the Emmy with the show being weak considering Dame Maggie Smith won for the two strongest seasons+final season of Downton and if Maggie Smith can’t pull off a win in a weak season, no one else can.Not now
