Opinion: The Emmys should have a young performer category.

Can we at least nominate her at our GoldDerby awards since the Emmys won’t touch the show?

    Writing: The White Lotus

I don’t think this is happening after it lost WGA. The White Lotus had no reason to lose this. Adding to that the show hasn’t won particularly much with some key misses.

Any reasons for the high confidence in The Essex Serpent?

The cast and crew involved, particularly Danes (her first project post Homeland) and Barnard, give me confidence that this will not be a disaster on the quality front at least. The premise also sounds interesting and something that stands out from the current pack of contenders in a good way. A period show, again unlike other shows here, so there’s potential for strong BTL support as well. Couple that with being the priority for a rising streaming service which has the resources and the skill to properly campaign it, and the show looks like a strong bet on paper. It’s also relatively short at only 6 episodes long so I don’t think the late release would be a major hindrance.

    Who is this?

Matilda Lawler from Station Eleven. Not kidding when I say she sometimes even outacted her adult co-stars, who are very good themselves. One of the very few child performances where the hype and acclaim is actually well deserved.

The entire cast. Her, Patel, Davis, Deadwyler, Rizwan and Wilmot.

    It’s what they deserve.

It will be tragic if the emmys completely ignore Scenes From A Marriage it is the best series I have seen and its filmed in one house.
