Copying my post from the previous thread:
I don’t know why this isn’t being entertained more but I personally think Andrew Garfield and the show Under The Banner Of Heaven is going to miss. Not a very accessible show, slow pace, little buzz, poor response from the Mormon community, low ratings, 70s audiences score, low 70s Metacritic. The only thing that is in their favour is Garfield’s individual momentum.
Or
You can rephrase my argument as : “I don’t understand the confidence in Under The Banner Of Heaven and Garfield being safe bets.”

Agreed, I’m still predicting it and Garfield but it could miss as well. The show is not being as popular as I expected it to be.

I think people had so much pre-release hype for UTBOH it’s held over. I’ve not completely decided whether I have it in or out, but I think the argument that it’s this years’ Mare doesn’t hold up.

I think one of the things I think has been really prevalent this year is the frequency critical hype hasn’t translated in to audience/industry interest in a crowded cycle.
There are a lot of factors that determine one turning in to the other.

Precisely. Mare was many folds stronger than UTBOH in every sphere.
I wouldn’t be shocked for UTBOH to miss anything other than Writing.

Yeah, I was saying…somewhere in the last thread that I think he’s middle of the pack, but I don’t know if I’m overestimating his personal buzz. I’m operating on the assumption that he has baitier material in the last couple of episodes, but it feels like Staircase is sucking in the air that’s left before the end of the season.
Right now I think my list would be:
1. Keaton
2. Firth
3. Isaac
4. Garfield
5. Stan or FosterHas HBO been pushing Survivor?
May 21, 2022 at 6:52 pm #1204959649The thing is that the gargantuan pre hype for UTBOH is somewhat masking over the fact that it has not been able to distinguish itself from the other late releases that just came and went.
