Does anyone know if the first two episodes of Obi Wan are eligible below the line in the 2022 round?
The sound is exceptional

I don’t believe so, the entire series needs to air before like June 16th (prior to the start of voting) or something for the series to be eligible for the current year. Obi-Wan misses by a week.
I could be wrong though.

Name recognition, to maximise on acting nominations, make way for other actresses in supporting

Name recognition
Weak competition with many names in flops or contenders as fillers
Maximize the acting nomsMay 30, 2022 at 12:06 am #1204967158I mean. I know why. But God is it a terrible decision. She’s barely in the damn show, she’s dead for like 90% of it.
May 30, 2022 at 9:03 pm #1204967914I can’t be the only one who thinks none of the limited series contenders this year really have all that much passion. Makes it really hard to see what television academy voters will actually feel passionate towards.
Maybe it’s just me.

As a season it’s a lot different from last year. There are certainly things that are objectively more popular or acclaimed, but there’s so much content people are watching different things.
I also don’t think it’s as “star making”, a lot of the contenders are vets or people who were already buzzy – it was hard to miss last year, for instance, how much The Queen’s Gambit elevated Anya Taylor Joy, we don’t have an auteur project like I May Destroy You, and at this point the Marvel stuff is ad infinitum as opposed to Wandavision.

My guess is Disney are trying to get their Marvel cast/leads out of each others way, especially in the case of Isaac who is already up against himself.

They ran it as a Comedy for Golden Globes/SAG, so I’m not surprised they ended up keeping it there.

Just shocked because Variety reported that they were running it in Limited. Weird choice, especially because this essentially, imo, eliminates any chance of it getting nominated since I don’t see Pugh getting into comedy supporting actress at all.

I liked Hawkeye and it was better than expected, but it was never getting nominated ATL anyway. I assume Disney just wants to separate all their shows to maximize their campaigns: Loki = drama, Hawkeye = comedy, Moon Knight = limited and What If for animated.
