Maggie Smith was the best part of Downton Abbey. She was a tour-de-force. (Dockery, Stevens and the writing are a far second). #sorrynotsorry

I fail to understand though how Dockery didn’t win a single Emmy for Downton Abbey. The range of emotions was sensational (esp.in S2,S3 and S4).

First trailer for ABC’s “Women of the Movement“, premiering January 6, from creator-writer Marissa Jo Cerar, director Gina Prince-Bythewood and executive producers incl Will Smith and Jay-Z.

A six-episode event series centring on Mamie Till-Mobley (Adrienne Warren), who risks her life to find justice after her son Emmett (Cedric Joe) is brutally murdered in the Jim Crow South. Unwilling to let Emmett’s murder disappear from the headlines, Mamie chooses to bear her pain on the world stage, emerging as an activist for justice and igniting the Civil Rights movement as we know it today.

This was in development at HBO for a number of years so I imagine it must of some quality (ie more American Crime, less When We Rise)

Between this and the Zellweger one, are networks trying to get back into the Limited Series business?

My computer AND phone don’t want to insert a photo but Justin Theroux posted a stack of photos from The White House Plumbers.

(It also greatly pleases me to see Kiernan Shipka in 70s garb, I shall imagine this is a Mad Men/Sally Draper spinoff where she falls under the influence of Cersei Lannister)

I think we might be underestimating Elizabeth Olsen. The role she’s playing won Barbara Hershey the Emmy and she’s gained goodwill from WandaVision. The story is gripping (woman being acquitted for killing her friend with an axe 41 times in self defence) and the person on whom the story is based is alive and would most likely watch the series with popcorn at her home. Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter.

Here for it, every new network show that doesn’t feature Dick Wolf’s involvement gets cancelled after a season anyway.

I think it’s more just waiting for confirmation it will be released this cycle. It’s filming until the beginning of March so it’s really a coin toss at this point.

But yeah, role, distributor, other talent involved and where she is in her career feels like she’s primed for a major win somewhere sooner than later.

Pretty much. Plus they’ll likely have more chance to get decent talent at this stage if they run with limited.

Yeah, I think so. That seems like plenty of time for turnaround.

I also think they probably run The Tourist on or around Oscars, it’s been wrapped for months and I don’t think they benefit from holding it given there’s every likelihood this is the peak of Dornan’s career awards wise, even if he doesn’t get in Belfast will.
