And Viola Davis, Gillian Anderson and Michelle Pfeiffer have not even entered yet.

Let’s not forget Sienna Miller, Sarah Lancashire as well as Alison Oliver and Sasha Lane (in the highly anticipated adaptation of Conversations with Friends from the Normal People author).

This year is going to be SO competitive and I have to say I’m here for it.

    FYC:
    Picture: Passing/The Power of the Dog/Shiva Baby/Spencer
    Director: Jane Campion/Rebecca Hall/Pablo Larrain
    Actor: Benedict Cumberbatch/Andrew Garfield/Winston Duke
    Actress: Olivia Colman/Kristen Stewart/Tessa Thompson
    S. Actor: Richard E. Grant/Troy Kotsur/Kodi Smit-McPhee
    S. Actress : Kirsten Dunst/Claire Foy/Jayne Houdyshell/Martha Plimpton/Ruth Negga/Diana Rigg/Anya Taylor-Joy
    O. Screenplay: Bergman Island/Mass/Nine Days
    A. Screenplay: The Lost Daughter/Passing/The Power of the Dog/Shiva B

I have only one wish for this season. Limited lead actress has to be at least 6 slots this year. Make comedy categories 4 slots. It’s not like anyone cares for those.

Alison Oliver and Sasha Lane (in the highly anticipated adaptation of Conversations with Friends from the Normal People author).

Sasha Lane will probably go supporting based on the book. I doubt the show will expand her role. The book is solely from the perspective of Alison Oliver’s character. Everyone else is supporting. Although I can see Joe Alwyn going lead.

When we’ve been debating over Qualley and Winslet and then Olivia wins…

And she still doesn’t have an individual SAG win yet, I smell a narrative…

    Oscars FYC:

    "CODA" – in all categories

"Everybody's Talking About Jamie" – Sup. Actor (Richard E. Grant), Sup. Actress (Sarah Lancashire) and Original Song (“This Was Me”)

"King Richard" – Original Song (“Be Alive”)

"Summer of Soul" – Picture, Film Editing and Documentary Feature

“The Green Knight” – in all categories

I wouldn’t go as far as saying they’re locked but out of all the future limited/movie actress contenders the two I’m most confident in remaining contenders (regardless of whether they get nominated or don’t) are Anna Chlumsky and Julia Garner.

Inventing Anna is ultimately going to be watched by audiences and the industry even if it gets mediocre reviews. It’s on Netflix, stars a beloved two time Emmy winning actress from a show that has amassed 32 Emmy nominations and also has a commercially friendly plot. It running concurrent to Ozark will also probably help.

    FYC:

    A. Screenplay: The Lost Daughter/Passing/The Power of the Dog/Shiva B

I think Netflix think Garner is close to win competitive to be honest – she’s the first limited contender for 2022 they’ve spotlighted – and they’re focusing in on her here rather than Ozark (double ATL wins for anyone is incredibly unlikely, and Garner is not an aggressive campaigner). This probably helps everyone – Linney and Bateman don’t need Garner but Chlumsky probably needs Garner. Obviously Garner almost certainly gets in for Ozark but this feels like the Julia Garner Netflix promo focus.

That hasn’t finished filming yet so it might go to the 2023 Emmy season.

Is Dopesick a limited series? Looks like a good cast + getting decent reviews, might check it out!
