A great pilot is crucial for a Netflix series. If the pilot for Pieces Of Her is receiving such acclaim,I can totally see it becoming a hit considering a great pilot keeps viewers engaged for atleast 4 episodes and added to the thriller aspect of the show, it can be a some sort of a binge pleasure for many people. Also Collette is also likely to draw Unbelievable fans.
Emmy FYC
-Severance in all categories.
-Ted Lasso in all categories.
-The Dropout in all categories.-Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton, Margaret Qualley, Colin Firth
-Jung Ho-Yeon, Lee Yoo-Mi, Sarah Snook, Laura Linney.

Not always it translates to awards recognition, but it makes Toni Colette an alternative to Julia Garner when it comes to the “Octavia Spencer slot”.

You know you’re a legend when you have an Emmy slot named after you.

Review: In new ‘Tiger King’ series, John Cameron Mitchell steals the show
It’s Peacock, so make of that what you will.

It’s probably a really good pilot and then a really good mess

March 2, 2022 at 3:16 pm #1204828260The Girl From Plainville does not remotely interest me one bit but it does feel like one of the shows here that general audiences could latch onto rather quickly in this field. I’d be surprised if it ends up being super acclaimed as a show but I will keep an eye on Elle if her performance does end up being well received. With both this and The Great in contention I can see her having a Julia Garner/Antony Ramos type of hype moment close to voting due to having multiple high profile projects in one cycle.
FYC:
"The Good Fight", "The Other Two" and "Station Eleven" in all categories, Sarah Lancashire ("Julia"), William Jackson Harper ("Love Life") and Luke Kirby ("The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel")

I get the impression it’s very middling but Collette is good
It might be worth waiting on a few reviews there to see if it balances out because I got very 6.5/10 vibes
March 2, 2022 at 5:01 pm #1204828360The Tourist is actually holding on to it’s high UK/Aus reviews with US reviewers, which surprises me. Still at 85/100 on Metacritic/Rotten Tomatoes.
I’d somewhat struggle to see this happening even so, especially given HBO’s lack of interest in it, but it’s not a terrible series.
